With production on Season 2 of Anne Rice’s Interview With the Vampire set to begin next week in Prague, the AMC adaptation has announced some recasting news.
Described as a “sensuous, contemporary adaptation of Anne Rice’s revolutionary gothic novel,” AMC’s Interview With the Vampire follows Louis de Pointe du Lac (played by Jacob Anderson), Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid) and Claudia’s (Bailey Bass) epic story of love, blood, and the perils of immortality, as told to journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian).

Bob Odenkirk looks to double his chances at the Emmys this year by entering the Comedy Actor race for “Lucky Hank.” This could mean he gets nominated in the Drama and Comedy Lead Actor categories. For an actor with a long-established career in comedy, it seems fitting he’d make the field of jokers.
“Lucky Hank” is the new AMC dark comedy, where Odenkirk plays the college professor, William Henry “Hank” Devereaux, Jr. At the beginning of the show’s pilot episode, Hank rants in class about his institution being a “middling college” and exclaims to a student, “The fact that you’re here means you didn’t try very hard.” The fallout of this causes Hank to be voted out as Chair of the English department. These ramifications lead to conversations with his wife (Mireille Enos) about moving to New York where she has an exciting job opportunity. However,...

Bob Odenkirk could find himself in the rare Emmy air this year. AMC will submit Odenkirk’s new series, “Lucky Hank,” in comedy categories for this year’s Emmy competition, Variety has confirmed.
Of course, AMC is also submitting the final episodes of Odenkirk’s “Better Call Saul” in the drama fields. Should Odenkirk be nominated in both the best drama actor and best comedy actor races, he would become the first performer in history to be nominated in both genres in the same year.
Several performers have been nominated and even won Emmys as both drama and comedy leads — but never at the same time. It’s a possibility: Odenkirk has been nominated five times in the best drama actor category for “Better Call Saul,” and this will be his final opportunity to compete in that race for “Saul”. Meanwhile, Odenkirk has been known first and foremost as a comedy performer,...

At AMC’s WonderCon panel for the Walking Dead spinoff Dead City Saturday, a hella-tense trailer was dropped that confirmed what keeps frenemies Maggie and Negan in one another’s orbit. Apparently, some baddie or other has in his clutches our heroine and ill-fated husband Glenn’s little boy Hershel, “and you’re key to getting him back,” the widow tells the Saviors’ pseudo-redeemed former leader.
Per the series’ official logline, “The Walking Dead: Dead City follows Maggie and Negan traveling into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead...

Hank is going to Hank.
If you didn't learn that from the series premiere of Lucky Hank, you'll know it after Lucky Hank Season 1 Episode 2, premiering Sunday on AMC and AMC+.
TV Fanatic scored an exclusive clip from the new episode, and it features Bob Odenkirk delivering another masterclass in acting.
He was excellent on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, but he's playing a very different role in Lucky Hank, showcasing his impressive acting range to perfection.
In the clip, Hank is given the opportunity to speak with Booker Prize winner George Saunders.
While anyone would be ecstatic about speaking with such a prestigious figure, Hank has other ideas.
It doesn't help matters that Hank learns just how much the college is paying for the privilege of having George at the campus.
It's a fun scene that showcases why the show has been such a resounding success with critics.

Attention, class: Bob Odenkirk is trading legal briefs for term papers in his new AMC dramedy Lucky Hank.
Sunday’s premiere introduces us to Hank Devereaux (played by the Better Call Saul alum), the chairman of the English department at a fictional Pennsylvania college. Hank is worn out and checked out, making a grocery list in his head while his students read their latest creative writing exercises aloud. The students notice, too — “Could you please, just for once, say something?” one of them pleads — so Hank obliges, ruthlessly picking apart the prose of a student named Bartow before launching into a rant.

This article contains minor spoilers for various Michael Douglas movies
A vintage nepo baby whose Hollywood career first began in the mid-1960s, Michael Douglas has starred in many hit movies over the decades, but today we are bold enough to argue that the real star of those films was not Douglas himself but his impressive hair, so we’re here to run down the absolute, official, and definitive ranking of performances by the actor’s mane during its decades in the industry.
Not all of Douglas’ films are listed here, to be completely transparent. We have focused on the big ones, nixing fare like the entertaining Behind the Candelabra, for example, because he wore wigs. Offerings like Coma and A Perfect Murder also took a back seat due to the unexceptional appearance of his locks therein.

As one might expect from any 1960’s James Bond pastiche, an assortment of cool spy gadgetry is on display in Franklin Adreon’s Dimension 5 (1966): microchips secreted in the rear compartment of a Bulova wristwatch, a poison dart firing pen, an exploding briefcase, and a cool bullet-firing point-and-shoot 35mm camera. If that’s not enough – and with possible exception of the invisible car from Die Another Day (2002) - Dimension 5 offers us one of the more ridiculous and dubious items found in any secret agent arsenal… a “time-convertor” belt.
We’re first introduced to this device during the film’s mildly exciting pre-credits sequence. In the first few minutes we’re treated to what one expects from a nifty ‘60s spy thriller: a bit of a car chase, a surprising punch-to-the mouth of a double-crossing Asian villainess and a swooping helicopter rescue. What we do not...

David Simon is the resident civics professor of American cable drama, with projects like "The Wire," "The Corner," "Generation Kill," and "Tremé" offering thoughtful takes on the drug war, the Iraq invasion, New Orleans post-Katrina, and the generally rotten state of urban America. He is a TV producer by trade, consciousness-raiser by passion, and journalist at his core, and the showmanship side of the job has always come across as a necessary evil for him. He's glad that "Wire" fans came to love Omar and Bubbles and Wallace, but if they didn't grasp the larger lesson he was trying to teach, then what was the point? But he's also understood that his work needs a spoonful of Stringer to make the medicine go down. "The Wire" may be a powerful commentary on policing, politics, and so much more, but it's also a cracking piece of entertainment, as are all of...

Paris - When you want to escape to the Riviera without spending the vacation time, you can always catch a foreign film that captures the sea, sun and fun. The Girl From Monaco transports us to the principality nestled along the French coastline.
Fabrice Luchini plays a Parisian lawyer who heads to the coast to defend a client accused of killing a Russian mobster. He gets distracted from the courthouse drama by a local weather girl (Louise Bourgoin). Can he get his mind back on the homicide? Or has he gone on vacation?
The film is now out on DVD from Magnolia Home Entertainment. Director Anne Fontaine was willing to answer a few questions via email. Fontaine had been an actress in French cinema during the ’80s before stepping behind the camera as a writer-director. She also recently wrote and directed critically praised Coco Before Chanel.
