- A senior at a southern California college, Art major Eddie Slocum still has an uncertain future. Professor Reese, his art teacher, offers him a post-graduate one year fellowship, which would allow him to focus on art for the entire year and would keep him out of being drafted, but it is contingent upon him passing all his other classes, Ancient History with Professor Schwartz being the problematic one especially as Schwartz and he don't really get along. Still, he is further along in his maturity than his roommate Tarragoo, who stays in school and puts little effort into it in avoiding the alternative of growing up and getting a job or being drafted. It's love at first sight for Eddie when he spots Pam Burns, who is in Teacher's College at the same school. As Pam lets him into her life, the two begin a torrid romance typical of the onset of young love. Unlike Tarragoo and his girlfriend of two years, Debbie, who is saving herself for the true commitment from Tarragoo, Eddie and Pam throw all caution to the wind in the meteoric rise of their relationship. However, they may not be able to avoid the proverbial cliff at the top of that peak no matter what they decide to do when problems start to arise, all stemming from that needed commitment due to she getting pregnant.—Huggo
