The was the last cartoon directed entirely by Chuck Jones before he was fired from the studio in December 1962 and later moved to MGM to create the Tom and Jerry shorts after the original Warner Bros. Cartoons shut down in 1963.
This short was completed in 1962, but didn't release until 1964 after Chuck Jones and his team were fired from following Warner Bros. shut down its animation studio in 1963 and he later moved to MGM to work with Tom and Jerry before the short released. Also, this was the last short that Jones had been worked on until Chariots of Fur (1994), the first short of the modern Looney Tunes franchise, released in 1994.
The fanciful and colorful background renditions incorporate elements of several deserts, including Arizona (Sonoran cactus) and Utah (red rock formations).
This cartoon is not to be confused with the 1970 Depatie-Freleng - Roland and Rattfink - cartoon of the same title.
