Rita Moreno was in the Philippines making this film when she was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as Maria in West Side Story. She eventually decided to make the 15-hour flight to Los Angeles for the Oscar ceremony, despite not expecting to win. She did in fact win, but then had to depart the next day because she was needed on the set for this film (largely forgotten today), thereby missing out on interviews, congratulatory calls and telegrams, and other celebrations of her win.
Director/star George Montgomery and Gilbert Roland did not get along well with each other and communicated throughout the production via intermediaries.
