The film is recorded in the pub 'Het Achterom' (Dutch for through the back) in The Hague. The young writer / painter Jan Cremer regular customer and can be seen briefly in the film. His paintings are emphatically visible in the background.
The point of view of the film is a quote from the American writer William Faulkner, from his ironic novel Mosquitos from 1927: "There is a decline in population if a man were twins and had to stand around and watch himself make love."
