Sandra Giles, an actress and Hollywood pinup queen who appeared in such films as Daddy-o and Elvis Presley's It Happened at the World's Fair, has died. She was 84.
Giles died in Los Angeles on Christmas Day after a battle with bullous pemphigoid, an autoimmune skin disease, her daughter, singer Sandra Piller, told The Hollywood Reporter.

The Divine Miss M is returning to the Great White Way. Bette Midler is set to star in the Broadway revival of Hello, Dolly! due out next year. Theater Talk celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Hello, Dolly with a trio of guests, each with a different association with the long-running show. Actress Sondra Lee was the production's original Minnie Fay Lee Roy Reams was Cornelius in the 1978 revival and directed the second revival in 1995 and dancer Marge Champion, married to the show's director-choreographer Gower Champion, was present at the show's creation. The 1964 mega-hit was a musical adaptation of Thornton Wilder's The Matchmaker, with a book by Michael Stewart, score by 26-year-old Jerry Herman and produced by the notorious David Merrick. The show's original cast included Carol Channing, David Burns, Charles Nelson Reilly, Eileen Brennan and Ms. Lee. It ran for a record-breaking 2,844 performances from Jan. 15, 1964 to Dec. 27, 1970 and won 10 Tony Awards, a record it held for 35 years.

Today in 1964, Hello Dolly opened at the St. James Theatre, where it ran for 2844 performances. The show features lyrics and music by Jerry Herman and a book by Michael Stewart, based on Thornton Wilder's 1938 farce The Merchant of Yonkers, which Wilder revised and retitled The Matchmaker in 1955. Hello, Dolly was first produced on Broadway by David Merrick in 1964, winning the Tony Award for Best Musical and nine other Tonys. The show album Hello, Dolly An Original Cast Recording was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002. The show has become one of the most enduring musical theatre hits, enjoying three Broadway revivals and international success. It was also made into a 1969 film that was nominated for seven Academy Awards.

London -- Rachel Weisz was named best actress in a play as Blanche DuBois in "A Streetcar Named Desire" and Mark Rylance best actor for "Jerusalem" at the 2010 Laurence Olivier Awards, hosted by Anthony Head and presented Sunday evening.
"The Mountaintop" saw American Katori Hall become the first black female playwright to win the Olivier for best new play while Broadway transfer "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" was named best revival.
In musical honors, Broadway hit but London flop "Spring Awakening" was named best new show with the production's Aneurin Barnard winning as best actor and Iwan Rheon for best supporting performance.
"Hello Dolly!" won as best musical revival with Samantha Spiro named best actress in the title role and Stephen Mear best choreographer. "Wicked" picked up the audience award for most popular show while Michael Wynne's "The Priory" won the best new comedy award and Tim Whitnall's "Morecambe" won as best entertainment.
