The first color movie for director Julien Duvivier.
Submitted to the British Board of Film Censors by United Artists and passed with an "X" certificate (for adults only) on 13 October 1959. The UK premiere at the London Pavilion was on 5 February 1960 and ran four weeks. For the general release at normal prices on 24 April 1960 United Artists selected Vice Raid (1959) as the supporting feature. UA continued to distribute A Woman Like Satan for several years, well into the 1970s, especially for Sunday only showings. It was also re-issued twice to support UA's newer releases: in 1964 to accompany The Magic Sword (1962) and in 1965 to support I'll Take Sweden (1965).
