Editor Drum saves a man from an Indian attack unaware the man is a gunslinger. The man gets in a fight and kills another, satisfied he has done so in self-defense. Drum urges Larkin to leave town.
Fanatic takes control of Jubilee. When newly elected Sheriff Kreiger stretches his dictatorial powers to the point of shooting a man in cold blood, the frightened town of Jubilee calls on Drum for help.
Charles McGowan comes to Jubilee, he is a card-sharping preacher. Jefferson Drum, the incorruptible and slightly dense newspaper editor, is suspicious.
