HEINZ ERHARDT FUNNY IN EXHAUSTED STORY
J. Steed27 April 1999
This Heinz Erhardt vehicle has only Erhardt himself and his 5 charming daughters as main attractions, with Erhardt in good form in very funny scenes. But the story is exhausted after only half the film is over and the directing of Erich Engels does not do anything to liven things up; and that means the viewer is just waiting for a next scene with Erhardt.

Another mediocre Erhardt film Warning: Spoilers
"Witwer mit 5 Töchtern" ("Widower with five Daughters") is a black-and-white film from West Germany and the year is 1957. By then, color was already really common in Germany and of course also in the United States, so this is a bit of a journey back to the past. Of course, it is a sound movie though. If you have heard the name Heinz Erhardt before, then you will realize that this is of course a comedy movie, and one for (and about) the entire family. The description of the title page says it all already: "The five daughters of a widower want to him get married again." A lot of this film's charm is about the girls or I could also say young women. They work with their cuteness and, for the older ones, their attractiveness. Unfortunately, it is really only Erhardt that shines once again with his performance and brings his usual amount of great charisma. The script is not really on par. there are good moments, but there are also pretty uninteresting moments and characters. All in all, the bad outweighs the good and I give this film a thumbs.down. Not recommended.
