With her health rapidly deteriorating, a gravely ill Sissi travels to the warmer climates of picturesque Madeira, and then, she visits the sun-kissed island of Corfu. Thankfully, her mother, Ludovika, comes to her rescue--and as Sissi's health is miraculously restored--she reunites with her husband, Franz Joseph, for an official visit to Italy and the Lombardo-Venetian Kingdom, only to receive a lukewarm reception. Can the enchanting Austrian Empress, Sissi, charm the indifferent Italians, as she did back in Hungary?
