The deal has officially closed! The Walt Disney Company will acquire 21st Century Fox for $52.4 billion dollars! This deal also includes other entertainment and sports assets. This is a historic merger and now Marvel has the rights back to several of their X-Men properties and hopefully The Fantastic Four, which is actually pretty amazing and exciting.
For years these Marvel characters have been locked out of the McU because of deals made during the 1990s when Marvel was struggling and having major money issues. Now with this epic merger, Marvel is getting the rights back to a lot of those characters and you can bet your ass that Kevin Feige is going to take full advantage of it!
Disney is also picking up properties like Avatar, The Simpsons, FX Networks and National Geographic will also fold into Disney’s portfolio according to the official release.
It's pretty insane that this deal actually went through!

2017-09-01T05:56:57-07:00Will 'Kingsman' Save the Summer for Hollywood?
The American box office went to sleep sometime in the middle of the summer, and it has yet to wake up. The summer season has seen a string of mediocre-to-awful film openings and no blockbuster debuts since Wonder Woman back in June, and ticket sales have been the worst Hollywood has experienced in decades. Hollywood has essentially given up on the remainder of the summer, opting not to release any movies nation-wide over the Labor Day weekend. The industry is holding out hope, though, for a couple of early-fall movies that may have a chance to lure moviegoers back to theaters.

In the days leading up to the Deadpool 2 motorcycle stunt that killed racer S.J. Harris on Aug. 14 in Vancouver, the crew was said to be growing increasingly agitated and nervous about the potential for something to go wrong.
The 20th Century Fox sequel’s producers had been exerting pressure to have the 40-year-old Harris, who had raced professionally but had never worked on a film, perform that day’s stunt because, as an African-American, she was a believable stand-in for Zazie Beetz, who portrays Domino in the film. I’m tremendously fond of the Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardennes‘ work. They deserve to be high on the list of the best filmmakers working in the French film industry today, and although their last film, “The Unknown Girl,” would qualify as their first misfire, they have given us so many great films over the years (“The Kid With A Bike,” “L’Enfant,” “Rosetta“) that it’s a no brainer to have them situated next to Michael Haneke and Olivier Assayas as the current European masters.

Despite its title, “My Cousin Rachel” is not a family comedy set over a Bat Mitzvah weekend in New Jersey, though it might yield similar audience demographics. Rather, it is a moody period romance from “Notting Hill” director Roger Michell starring Rachel Weisz and Sam Claflin, and one of a diminishing breed of mid-budget studio dramas.
Of course, the title wouldn’t have been so funny when the novel came out in 1951, written by Daphne du Maurier. The twentieth century British author and playwright’s work has inspired many great films over the years, including Nicholas Roeg’s “Don’t Look Now” (1973), starring Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie, as well as two from Alfred Hitchcock (“Rebecca” and “The Birds”). Lesser known is 1952 version of “My Cousin Rachel,” starring Richard Burton and Olivia de Havilland. Though classified as a romance novelist, her stories are more about the darker side of love and its obsessive qualities,...

Chicago – An original voice, in an original conceptual movie, is a rare category of cinema art. Director and lead actor Pat Healy, working from a script from Mike Makowsky, has fashioned “Take Me,” a thriller about kidnapping and having the tables turned.
Healy is Ray, a kind of loser who stumbles upon a new business… providing kidnapping scenarios for willing clients. Business is bad – there is an hilarious opening with Ray trying to get a loan from a local bank – until a new client emerges (Taylor Schilling of ‘Orange is the New Black’), who wants more from the service than the faux kidnapper had ever provided. The film, rich with tones of darkness and redemption, is exquisitely fashioned by Pat Healy, in his first feature length film as a director.

Following up perhaps career-best work in Olivier Assayas’ Personal Shopper, Kristen Stewart is going from ghosts to the depth of the ocean with her next film. As her recent haircut already proved, she’s begun shooting William Eubank‘s The Signal follow-up Underwater, and now the cast has expanded. Joining Stewart are T.J. Miller, Game of Thrones‘ Jessica Henwick, and Vincent Cassel.
The 20th Century Fox tentpole, described as an “underwater Armageddon,” is scripted by Brian Duffield and follows Stewart’s Nora, part of a underwater scientific crew who endure an earthquake and must fight for survival. While there’s no details on the supporting roles, we’d expect they are all part of the crew. As for Cassel, after taking part in Jason Bourne last summer, this marks his next Hollywood tentpole.
Check out Cassel’s post from the set below and another from Miller.

One of the biggest shockers of 2016 in the fanboy community had to be the parting of ways on “Deadpool 2.” The 20th Century Fox “X-Men” spinoff was not just a tremendous success — $782 million worldwide — it essentially put the rest of the “X-Men” franchise to shame in one go (with half the budget, no less). Despite seven previous films to the franchise’s name, “Deadpool” went on to quickly wipe out all records and currently stands as the highest-grossing X-film both domestically and internationally.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” may feature superstar Jennifer Lawrence along with other returning star mutants, but the 20th Century Fox sequel probably won’t come within the $110.6 million opening made by its predecessor, 2014’s “Days of Future Past.” Early tracking has the “X-Men” sequel aiming for $100 million for the long Memorial Day weekend (counting Monday’s results). Although studio estimates are set lower, just above $80 million. The 20th Century Fox movie, directed by Bryan Singer, is opening on 4,100 screens and was made on a production budget of $178 million — about $12 million less than 2014’s “X-Men” installment, which also opened...

Nicole Beharie‘s Abbie Mills may be dead, but “Sleepy Hollow” is actually very much still alive. Fox has renewed its supernatural drama for a fourth season, a show that many (once again) thought would head to the graveyard instead. Sans former female lead Beharie, “Sleepy” stars Tom Mison as Ichabod Crane, Lyndie Greenwood as Jenny Mills, Lance Gross as Daniel Reynolds and Jessica Camacho as Sophie Foster. The 20th Century Fox Television and K/O Paper Products series hails from Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Len Wiseman and Phillip Iscove. The first three executive produce the show, as do Clifton Campbell,...

Katharine McPhee has a long and colorful history when it comes to televised karaoke.
VideosSNL Outtake: Paul Ryan, John Boehner Star in ‘Establishment Shuffle’ (Video)
On the positive end of the spectrum, she finished in second place during the fifth season of American Idol — arguably the finest, most patriotic karaoke contest on television — but she also sang “Redneck Woman” on Smash, a song choice that still keeps me up at night. If you can’t beat 'em, join 'em. Hollywood sure loves to follow the trend of the moment, and it appears Warner Bros. is following suit. It was unveiled on the Film Ratings website, per the MPAA (via StitchKingdom), that WB will be releasing an R-rated version of “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice” following in the wake of “Deadpool.” The 20th Century Fox mutant film starring Ryan Reynolds of course changed the game two weeks ago when it debuted with a $132 million opening — the highest opening R-Rated film of all time and by a considerable margin. Read More: Is 'Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice' In Trouble? Many pundits suspected that WB would toy with the idea of an R rating for “Suicide Squad” now that “Deadpool” has seemingly broken the R-rating stigma (though don’t bet for a second what works for one film now works...

If you’re still on the fence about seeing “Deadpool” next weekend, nearly every critic who has reviewed the Marvel superhero movie is advising you to get off of it and buy a ticket. The 20th Century Fox release, starring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth and directed by Tim Miller, has a stellar 96 percent “fresh” approval rating from the 27 critics counted on Rotten Tomatoes, so far. While there’s bound to be more naysayers emerging, that’s still an admirable reception. “‘Deadpool’ hit the sweet spot of entertaining violence – there’s nothing like an R-rated superhero movie to underscore.

It takes place in a very important moment, before the First World War and before civilisation starts going into the darkness,” the director told the trade, adding, “[The Nazis] killed all of that.

“You know this story,” begins Victor Frankenstein, the umpteenth revival of perhaps science fiction’s most enduring creation. The 20th Century Fox picture – not to be confused with last year’s I, Frankenstein, or next year’s Fox procedural, The Frankenstein Code - opens with a roll call of the expected trappings: bolts of lightning, a body hovering above a decrepit keep, dark intonations about the nature of men and monsters. Such iconography and ideas are hardwired into the cultural consciousness, so the above hypothesis is indeed correct for assuming we already know Frankenstein’s story. But what Victor Frankenstein actually presupposes, in its ramshackle, miserable manner, is that…maybe we don’t?
Speaking on behalf of those who haven’t cracked the spine on Mary Shelley’s classic since middle school, it’s possible that Victor Frankenstein is shrewder in its allusions and references to the source material than I’m giving it credit.

New York (AP) - Ridley Scott's 3-D space epic "The Martian" touched down in theaters with a robust $55 million at the weekend box office.
The 20th Century Fox release, starring Matt Damon as an astronaut left for dead on Mars, proved moviegoers remain drawn by the gravitational pull of space adventures. The estimated North American opening of "The Martian" surpassed that of Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar" and virtually equaled the debut of Alfonso Cuaron's "Gravity."
Last week's box-office champ, "Hotel Transylvania 2," slid to second with an estimated $33 million.
Denis Villeneuve's drug war thriller "Sicario," starring Emily Blunt, shot up to third with $12.1 million for the acclaimed Lionsgate release.
Ahead of a wider opening next week, Robert Zemeckis' 3-D "The Walk" opened on 448 Imax screens but took in only $1.5 million.
