Brute 1976 from director Marcel Walz is marketed as a throwback to horror classics such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and follows a group of friends who stumble upon the desert town Savage while looking for a spot to set their latest photo shoot, only to meet the depraved, mask-wearing Birdy family, who begin hunting them down one by one.
Sarah French, Gigi Gustin, Dazelle Yvette and Adriane McLean star.
Garden of Eden follows the wealthy and devout Eden family, who choose one lucky guest from each of their parties and give them the opportunity to fulfil their greatest desires. However, a life-changing dream for some may become a nightmare for others.
Walz is the director, and like Brute 1976, was written by Joe Knetter.

Bob Dylan once wrote an essay about Elvis Presley’s “Viva Las Vegas.” He saw it as a song about faith — albeit faith in something that isn’t traditionally considered religious. Dylan also had a bit to say about the faith that Elvis’ manager had in the “Heartbreak Hotel” singer. Fascinatingly, “Viva Las Vegas” wasn’t much of a hit.
Bob Dylan said Elvis Presley’s ‘Viva Las Vegas’ is about a modern Garden of Eden
In his 2022 book The Philosophy of Modern Song, Dylan analyzed “Viva Las Vegas” in depth. “This is a song about faith,” he wrote. “The kind of faith where you step under a shower spigot in the middle of a desert and fully believe water will come out.
“Or, more to the point, the type of faith where you stand in the marble lobby of an opulent hotel with neon flashin’ while being served free...

Godfrey Reggio helped shape the syntax for contemporary commercial advertising, not to mention the music video, with his trilogy of experimental non-narrative films that began with 1983’s Koyaanisqatsi. Reggio’s autodidactic films require users to create their own meaning through the collision of hyperkinetically edited imagery with composer Philip Glass’s evocative music. At 83, Reggio isn’t resting on his laurels—or courting them at all.
After slowing down his rhythm to focus on extended shots trained on human faces in 2013’s Visitors, Reggio’s newest film, Once Within a Time, finds him once again working with more involved edits and compositions. Don’t call it a return to form, though, because he crafted something that looks and sounds quite different. The 52-minute short, co-directed with Jon Kane (who edited 2002’s Naqoyqatsi), conjures the look of Georges Méliès-era, hand-tinted frames while utilizing modern effects to overwhelm the dense frames with information.

This article contains spoilers for "Good Omens" season 2.
If you watched "Good Omens" season 2 when it debuted in July, chances are you've spent the last several weeks humming the same song as a few million other fans of the show. Buddy Holly's "Everyday" is the unofficial theme song of the fantasy comedy series' second season, and it's an earworm that's both impossible to shake and too fun to even want to.
"Everyday" first appeared in the sophomore season trailer, and seemed to be hinting towards some sort of countdown. "Every day/it's a-gettin' closer," Holly sings -- but what's the "it" in question? The apocalypse? An answer to the question of Gabriel's sudden appearance on earth? A big old smooch between the demon Crowley (David Tennant) and the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen). The answer turned out to be two of the three, but within the show's story, the...

A tweet from BiggBoss Tak, which has all the insights and scoop on the show, read: “Breaking! Aashika Bhatia is evicted from the Bigg Boss Ott house.”
During her stay in the house, Aashika took her time to open up. However, she grew close to Elvish, Manisha and Abhishek. During last week’s captaincy task, Aashika was seen losing her cool at Avinash Sachdeva and made it a point that he doesn’t win the task.

As of this writing, Greta Gerwig's new satire "Barbie" is poised to rake in close to $100 million in its opening weekend, making it a bone fide hit. Because it is opening alongside the equally hyped Christopher Nolan biopic "Oppenheimer" and the less-ballyhooed but well-reviewed horror film "Cobweb," the summer of 2023 is beginning to resemble the diversity of the 1990s. One might recall the weeks in 1995 when "The Brady Bunch Movie" was playing in theaters at the same time as "Outbreak," "Muriel's Wedding," and John Carpenter's "In the Mouth of Madness." Aesthetic diversity is back, baby.
Prior to "Barbie," Gerwig directed the semi-autobiographical coming-of-age drama "Lady Bird" and the awards darling "Little Women." With "Barbie," Gerwig has moved solidly into the realm of "commercially proven," leading to a well-moneyed Netflix offer for the director to make two new "Chronicles of Narnia" movies. Despite how 1995 everything feels, no one seems...

The movie takes place in the southern borders of the United States, “a dangerous area inhabited by Coyotes, Ice officers, and filled with desperate immigrants and refugees”.

When Variety talks to Zoe Saldaña and her husband, the artist and film director, Marco Perego, they’ve only just arrived at the Taormina Film Festival, and are in the process of unpacking. Room service arrives and Zoe apologizes about having to tuck into the salad straightaway. They’re here attending the world premiere of Perego’s debut film as a director, “The Absence of Eden,” a drama that takes place in the murky world of the U.S.’s southern border, a hellish landscape inhabited by Coyotes, Ice officers, desperate immigrants and refugees.
It’s a universe away from the Pandora of the “Avatar” pictures or the science fiction blockbusters “Star Trek” and “Guardians of the Galaxy” Saldaña is more usually associated with. “When I was picked for those films, I had no idea they were going to become franchises. I thought it was going to be a one and done kind of thing.

‘If You Were the Last’ Review: Zoë Chao and Anthony Mackie Are the Cutest Rom-Com Couple of the Year
“If You Were the Last” officially marks lead star Zoë Chao’s Hollywood takeover. After stealing scenes in Netflix’s return-to-form rom-com “Your Place or Mine” and being a welcome addition to “Party Down” Season 3, Chao leads the indie sci-fi romantic comedy opposite Anthony Mackie. The two leads’ already formidable charisma goes off the charts when they are put side by side. The chemistry? It’s out of this world.
Chao plays astronaut captain Jane, who is trapped in an adrift spaceship with her lieutenant, scientist Adam (Mackie). Three years into a NASA mission, and Jane and Adam are lost, alone with each other, and counting down the days until their inevitable starvation. The film is set in the not-so-distant future where Matt Damon is still around (and still a go-to celebrity to name check), adding a charming familiarity to a film still rooted in the present. The term “passion project” is thrown around a lot in Hollywood; usually as a reference to a personal story that means a ton to its writer, director or star.
But what kind of pressure does that put on the rest of the cast and crew?
This Oscar season, there are a lot of so-called passion projects that have received accolades. Among them: “The Fabelmans,” a family story that was inspired by director and co-writer Steven Spielberg’s own parents; “The Banshees of Inisherin,” a script that writer-director Martin McDonagh spent years perfecting set in an era in Irish history that few outsiders might know about; and the Marvel movie “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” for which director and co-writer Ryan Coogler had to follow the success of the film’s predecessor, 2018’s “Black Panther” while doing justice to its late star, Chadwick Boseman.

The most-watched Super Bowl Lvii ad on YouTube on Sunday was Melissa McCarthy’s Booking.com spot, in which the actor and comedian is whisked away on a whirlwind musical tour of gorgeous vacation getaways. John Travolta’s T-Mobile ad, crooning a riff on “Summer Nights” (alongside Zach Braff and Donald Faison), was No. 2.
Other celebrity-driven ads in YouTube’s Top 10 came from Skechers (Snoop Dogg), Pepsi (Steve Martin), Paramount+ (Sylvester Stallone), Rakuten (with Alicia Silverstone reprising Cher from “Clueless”), Google Pixel and Avocados From Mexico (featuring a naked Anna Faris as Eve in a reimagined Garden of Eden).
Indeed, the only Top 10 spot on YouTube’s Super Bowl 2023 gameday views chart that did not feature a celebrity was Kia America’s “Binky Dad,” chronicling the title hero’s all-terrain journey to retrieve his infant’s forgotten pacifier.

Jean-Luc Godard, who died Tuesday at 91, was the filmmaker who changed everything. He directed “Breathless,” the 1960 landmark that helped to launch the French New Wave, employing a new, fast, leaping-ahead technique and style — the jump cut — that altered the DNA of how movies were made. In the ’60s, he took his camera out into the streets and into cafés, stores, offices, and apartments, so that a Godard film often seemed like a documentary about fictional characters. He drew many of those characters from Old Hollywood, a world he’d grown up on and remained obsessed with, but one that he always made seem a million miles away, like some black-and-white Garden of Eden the world had fallen from. So even as you were watching Jean-Paul Belmondo play a glamorous hoodlum or Anna Karina play a femme fatale, you knew that you were also seeing an actor toy with the very...

Truth be told, the human species has always been interested in the dark subject that we now call “true crime.” In the Western mythological canon, the very first story after the creation of man and the Garden of Eden is literally that of a fratricide.
Still, you may have noticed of late that pop culture’s obsession with crimes, those who commit them, and how they are punished has intensified of late. If you want to pinpoint a recent moment in the 21st century where our fascination with true crime intensified, you can probably do a lot worse than 2004’s The Staircase.
The Staircase (titled Soupçons or “Suspicions” in its director’s native French) is a multi-part true crime docuseries that helped paved the way for so many of the other true crime docs we see today. The project began when French filmmaker Jean-Xavier de Lestrade learned of a curious...

NBC has given a pilot order to an adaptation of the award-winning Dutch drama A’dam – E.V.A.
Based on the three-season Dutch series starring Teun Luijkx and Eva van de Wijdeven — besides the obvious Garden of Eden allusion, A’dam – E.V.A. means “Amsterdam and many others” — the yet-to-be-titled U.S. adaptation will chronicle “the epic love and lives of two complete strangers whose multiple run-ins begin to defy coincidence and lead both to believe in fate.”

Country singer Ingrid Andress performed her song “Lady Like” on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Tuesday, February 9th.
For the performance, the singer set up in a serene outdoor space, taking a seat at a white piano while her small, masked-up backing band played behind her. With a pedal steel player and cellist alternately giving the song some classic country and orchestral flourishes, Andress moved easily through the tune, singing, “But I’m a lady like, whoa!/I could bring you to your knees/And get you kicked out the Garden of Eden/Untameable,...

It is the 1960s and a loved-up, blazed-up hippie couple, sketched in itchy black lines, have snuck into the monochrome nighttime woods to swap bodily fluids and woozy observations on life. Naked and stoned and mumbling about revolutions, they happen on a tall fence and climb it, entering, unbeknownst to them, the “Cryptozoo” of animators Dash Shaw and Jane Samborski’s combined imagination: a place in which griffins and winged horses keep company with will o’ the wisps, dragons and a startled unicorn.
If the sex and politics (complete with doubtless accidental but nonetheless yoinks-worthy reference to “storming the Capitol”) make this gorgeously psychedelic illustrated adventure appear more adult than the filmmakers’ 2016 debut, “My Entire High School Sinking into the Sea,” it’s slightly misleading. The drawing style is more mature — the lines slenderer, the transitions more inventive, the watercolored hues richer and more strange, featuring mottled mossy greens, dusky pinks and cloudy blues.

Ingrid Andress started off 2021 in style, delivering a performance of her single “Lady Like” on Monday’s episode of The Late Late Show With James Corden. The song is also the title track from her 2020 debut album, which was reissued in deluxe form in October.
Andress begins the song seated at a white piano, before ramping up to the self-assured first chorus in which she outlines her own vision of being “Lady Like.” “I’m a lady like, whoa/I could bring you to your knees/And get you kicked out the Garden of Eden,...

While Lucifer dealt with his own struggles during the first half of Season 5, the demon Mazikeen spiraled into her own private Hell, discovering among other things that her mother, Lilith, has been living on Earth for decades — and that the Devil himself knew.
That bombshell, coupled with wounds still to be licked over not being invited back to Hell, and her seemingly hopeless search for a soul, led Maze to be arguably as ferocious as ever, ultimately allying with Lucifer’s twin brother, Michael, in the midseason finale’s super-celestial clash.

Wynonna Earp is ready to tangle with the Garden of Eden, hopefully save some loved ones, and maybe grab a drink along the way — though all without her trusty Peacemaker at her side.
The Syfy gunslinger returns to action this Sunday at 10/9c, with a Season 4 opener that comes a long 22 months after its previous finale. When last we tuned in, the good news was that the Earp curse had been lifted, and Bulshar no more. In bad news, however, Wynonna’s sister Waverly had gotten yanked into the mythical, capital-g Garden, and newbie vampire Doc followed in brave pursuit.

The story of “Spaceship Earth” sounds like the premise of a sci-fi movie, but in true stranger-than-fiction manner, this Sundance premiere (which starts streaming Friday on Hulu) is truly out of this world.
How else do you explain how a theater troupe from San Francisco would, decades after the fact, attempt a large-scale ecological experiment to prove humans could create sustainable habitats for life in outer space?
Rich with archival footage and first-hand accounts of people who were a part of this earthbound interstellar trial, Matt Wolf’s documentary shares many a tall tale that would be almost unbelievable were it not for the vintage footage.

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for “Good Omens” through Episode 3)
The third episode of Amazon’s Prime Video adaptation of Neil Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett’s “Good Omens” starts off with the longest cold open in the history of television — as far as TheWrap and the stars and creative team behind the series can tell.
“I have no way of measuring that, but there can’t be many that are longer,” director Douglas Mackinnon told TheWrap of the segment, which is comprised of several scenes telling the story of how the demon Crowley (David Tennant) and the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) became friends over millennia on Earth.
Counting from the beginning of the episode until when the title sequence kicks in, the cold open accounts for 28 minutes — half of the episode’s 57-minute runtime.

Exclusive: DeVon Franklin, the producer behind faith-based films like Miracles from Heaven, The Star, and the forthcoming Breakthrough, has teamed with Fox Family for a live-action/ CGI musical twist on the story of the Garden of Eden, the biblical paradise introduced in the book of Genesis. The Garden will follow how the first animals and people discover the meaning of friendship, community, and unity in a world that is completely new.
The film is based on a pitch by Michael Weiss and Greg Ostrin.
“Most of us know a version of the story of the Garden of Eden, but never before has this story been told in such a unique way and it’s the first time we have the technology to see this story come to life like never before,” said Franklin, who holds an overall deal at Fox via his Franklin Entertainment shingle along with film and television producer Karen A.

Whether you love or loathe (or perhaps try not to pay attention to) HBO’s Girls, you’ve got to give it at least a little credit for the ferociously specific point-of-view of its creator Lena Dunham. (Ok, you don’t have to give her credit for anything, obviously, but for the sake of this intro, just work with me!)
Alas, though, in her Saturday Night Live hosting debut, the actress/writer/producer was tossed headlong into such flimsily conceived and executed sketches that they lacked such essentials as decent punch lines, specific characters and even discernable end points.
