Anthony Quinn worked on The Road (1954) simultaneously with this movie. He remarked that it had a much smaller budget than the Attila epic, but considered it a much better film.
This was the first of seven movies (six full-length, one short) that Anthony Quinn and Irene Papas would make together.
In 1962 Embassy Pictures reissued this in the US on a double feature with Hercules (1958) (English title: "Hercules" starring Steve Reeves) with the tag line "The Mightiest Men In All The World! The Mightiest Show In All the World".
This was the first foreign negative pick-up by Joseph E. Levine. He would build his Embassy Pictures empire with many of these foreign films, many from Italy, such as his blockbuster hit Hercules (1958), also directed by Pietro Francisci.
The Director of Photography was Aldo Tonti. His team of camera operators included Giuseppe Rotunno (who was about to be elevated and become one of Italy's premier DPs) and Karl Struss, a veteran American with over 30 years as a DP and who was already an Oscar winner.
