During the cattle drive, Audie Murphy (Reb) has ridden up ahead, over a ridge, to scout the trail and sees a range fire burning towards the herd. As he races back down the hill to the other riders, his horse slips and almost falls down. He and the horse are able to recover and without missing a beat, Murphy says his lines to the others and the scene goes on.
The song which Mary Castle (dubbed by an unidentified singer) performs in the saloon is, of course, one of Marlene Dietrich's signature songs, The Boys in the Back Room, first offered in Destry Rides Again (1939) , also produced by Universal, who, apparently, still retained the film rights to use it again. Comparing the two presentations, it's pretty obvious Dietrich didn't lose any sleep over this one's half-hearted attempt at an imitation.
Audie Murphy was forced to submit to a complete above the waistline body wax for his shirtless sequence.
This is the second of three movies where Audie Murphy appears with Susan Cabot. The first movie was The Duel at Silver Creek (1952) and the third movie was Ride Clear of Diablo (1954).
