Off-camera, Jimmy narrates the story of his search for his destiny. We see him living alone in a cabin in the woods; he has pictures of his parents. He paddles his canoe toward his destiny. He stops first in a resort by the water where he tries to find a mate. Then, it's on to the city. He tries to find his destiny in the daughter of the proprietor of a rooming house. His search takes him elsewhere: to a place of prayer, to a dance hall. Has he failed to find his destiny? He believes he's tried all but one thing. What is it, and what will be the result?
