TCM's Eddie Muller says that some scenes in the film were inartfully edited, which might leave viewers thinking that they missed something. He doesn't say which scenes, but the scene at Pop Garrow's apartment and the scenes where Slade is picked up by the hoods seem to be incomplete.
In order to get a superior copy of this film to undertake their restoration, the UCLA Film and Television Archive got a copy of the British version from the British Film Institute (BFI). That version has the original Monogram logo replaced with the Pathe logo.
High Tide was based on a Raoul Whitfield short story called "Inside Job" published in Black Mask, February 1932.
Highly regarded cinematographer William Clothier served as Henry Sharp's camera operator for this low budget Monogram release.
Restored by the UCLA Film and Television Archive with funding from the Film Noir Foundation in 2013.
