- Policeman with Lt. Ferrari: [referring to Radak] Say, Lieutenant, he must have died right at the stroke of midnight. What date'll I use?
- Ferrari: [indifferently] Toss a coin.
- Steve Randall: All you've got is me.
- Walt Radak: [as the clock is ticking] Right now, you're all I want.
- [He looks at it]
- Woman on Train: [Seeing her husband smiling at Steve and Anne] What's so interesting?
- [She brings their son and sits down in the train seat opposite him]
- Man on Train: [Referring to Steve and Anne] Honeymooners... I can spot them every time with that happy, silly look on their faces.
- Woman on Train: [Knowingly cynical] Hmmm... They'll soon get over that.
- Anne Randall: Isn't this a wonderful farm?
- Steve Randall: Yeah, I know. I was born and raised in the back of a stockyard. I never dreamed that flowers grew anyplace except in a window box.
- Walt Radak: [to Steve] In fifteen minutes they're going to throw the switch on Al, and you're going with him... both of you at the same time. It's not very much to do for my own brother, but it's something. It's all I can do now, I guess. Guess Al's already had his last dinner. You might as well have yours too.
- Walt Radak: [to Reynolds] Get the meal ready.
- Reynolds: [after looking through the refrigerator] Nothing here but milk and bread and some tired meat.
- Walt Radak: [to Reynolds] Make some sandwiches.
- Walt Radak: [to Steve] I'm sorry I can't give you a choice of food, Steve, but it won't make much difference. You're not gong to live long enough to get any nourishment out of it. You only get a good meal when the state pays for it. Isn't that right, Steve?
- Walt Radak: [to Steve about the police] I don't care what you tell them, but if Al doesn't walk out of that police station by midnight, your wife ain't gonna be so good to look at!
- Steve Randall: Driver, my wife's sick! Get to a hospital!
- Lady Bus Passenger: Why, she's going to have a baby!
- Bus Driver: She can't do that. It's against company regulations! Let's see if this manual explains what to do.
- Steve Randall: I'll tell you what to do: keep your hands on the wheel and step on the gas! Please hurry to a hospital.
- Bus Driver: Okay, buddy!
