- Pre-2006 home entertainment releases and NBC broadcasts had the 1994 version of Republic Pictures logo (in color) at the start.
- Post-2006 home entertainment releases had removing the Republic Pictures logo at the start, but instead they use the still version of 2002 Paramount Pictures closing logo (in color) at the end, because their owner Viacom acquiring Republic Pictures parent Spelling Entertainment in 1999.
- 2024 UPDATE - An "Abridged Edition" has surfaced. Better call this a Chop. New length = 1h 47' (hoopladigital) Original length = 2h 10' (imdb). The MAJOR loss is the entire alt reality of Potterville. The chopped footage is pivotal to the spirit of this film! The alt Potterville reveals how darker a world it would be without Jimmy Stewart's character's deeds. This revelation drive's Jimmy Stewart's character to transform ill will & a suicidal path into the gratitude and joy that has inspired viewers to smile by film's end. There are other, smaller chops throughout the film. WARNING - Highly opinionated text: Frank Capra, the cast, & most who have felt the profound cheer of this film are or would be greatly aggrieved. Chopping this film is like cutting off the forehead of da Vinci's Mona Lisa, so it'll fit in a box & make for cheaper postage. The profiteers will likely have a sanitized explanation. Those that haven't seen the original version are more likely to miss the deeply transcendent nature of the film. The societal harm of a single character controlling the welfare of the rest of the community is exposed well. Single characters transcend this misery. But; there is no communal remedy given. Eventually more & more film makers will not only give viewers fascist miseries and religious balms; but also communal solutions. The communal bank, tolerance, & gratitude were the solutions that this film could offer within the Zeitgeist of 1947. Overall i'd give it 8 out of 10.
- The film was colorized three times. The first colorized version of the film was produced by Hal Roach Studios (now Sonar Entertainment), the second by Republic Pictures. A third colorization of the film was produced by Legend Films for Paramount, the film's current copyright holder, in 2007.
