- Susan Courtney: And you're gonna solve this crime wave in two weeks?
- Jerry Curtis: Are you kiddin'? Two days is all I'll need. Who do you think you're talkin' to, a dumb flatfoot?
- Susan Courtney: Frankly, yes.
- Walter Whirtle: [trying and failing to touch his toes exercising] Oooh, confound it, I'll never make it. It seems to me they built floors higher when I was a boy.
- Elsa Wehmer: [having just arrived at the house] First thing in the morning I want to take a swim. Do you know where the swimming pool is?
- Jerry Curtis: [not knowing where it is] Ah, you can't miss it. It's right next to the diving board.
- Jerry Curtis: [facing the prospect of sharing a room with Susan that has only one double bed] Well, alright. All I have to do is to unravel this bed... err, this case. Maybe the solution to the whole thing is just around the corner.
- Susan Courtney: Well, wherever the corner is I hope there's a bed in it because you're gonna have to have some place to sleep tonight.
- Jerry Curtis: Yeah. Hey, maybe I could just tell Mrs. Whirtle that sleeping in the same room with you would make me nervous?
- Susan Courtney: Make YOU nervous? What do you think it's goint to do to ME!
- [turns away, walks off]
- Jerry Curtis: [looks down] No comment.
- Walter Whirtle: Mrs. Whirtle would have told you, but she's lying...... ahhh, that is, she's lying down.
