Stanley Kubrick's 1971 dystopian sci-fi film "A Clockwork Orange" points out that a modern British society -- so devoted to stuffy manners, politeness, and keeping evil out of sight -- won't know how to deal with legitimate sociopaths. Alex DeLarge (Malcolm McDowell) is a violent little punk who regularly leads his teen gang -- the Droogs -- into fights, into bars that serve drug-laced milk, and into the locked homes of their victims. Alex beats and assaults people without a scrap of conscience, and sees the world as something to consume, use up, and have sex with. Kubrick toys with the audience a little, presenting Alex as charismatic and funny, even though he's a monster.
When Alex is finally apprehended for his many crimes, the juvenile delinquent is thrown into prison and subjected to a new kind of rehabilitation technique ... involving movies. Alex has his eyes clamped open and he...

“Project Runway” judges made a mistake in deciding their final three for season 20. That’s according to the fans we polled after last week’s penultimate episode, “The Sky’s the Limit.” Scroll down to see our complete poll results.
SEERami Kashou’s ‘Project Runway’ designs, ranked worst to best
“The Sky’s the Limit” was the avant garde challenge. It brought the final four — Brittany Allen, Laurence Basse, Bishme Cromartie and Rami Kashou — to the Summit One Vanderbilt building in Manhattan where they took inspiration from the architecture of the space as well as the spectacular views of the New York City skyline.
Cromartie won the challenge for a look that used vinyl to mimic the reflective surfaces of a balloon room in the building. That earned him the first spot in the finale. Basse also got high marks from the judges for a complex architectural design that translated the geometry of buildings into a garment.

“I did use my Siriano Save on him, and I stand by my decision,” said Christian Siriano when he interviewed Rami Kashou on the “Project Runway” after show. Siriano and Kashou competed together in the fourth season of the reality competition series. Siriano won that season and has since returned to the show as a mentor. Kashou returned for season 20’s special “All-Stars” edition and was eliminated twice: in “Uncut Hems” Siriano vetoed the judges’ decision and kept Kashou around, but in “The Sky’s the Limit” Kashou was ousted for good. Watch their interview above.

Rami Kashou has had the longest “Project Runway” journey of anyone who made the final four. He originally competed way back during the show’s fourth season — the same season that current “Runway” mentor Christian Siriano won. Kashou was the runner-up back then. So how did he do in season 20 when he and 13 other All-Star contestants returned for another chance at the title? Scroll down to see all of his designs throughout the season, which we’ve ranked from worst to best. Do you agree with how we (and the judges) assessed his work?

The Simpsons Season 33 Episode 17
Lisa almost learns a lesson on The Simpsons’ “The Sound of Bleeding Gums.” When the Springfield lottery uses a song from local saxophone legend Bleeding Gums Murphy in their commercials, Lisa decides to help her musical idol’s son Monk, played by John Autry II, by any means possible.
Once again, the writers are talking about the show, and how The Simpsons are cited for social justice warrior product placements at the expense of laughs. Homer nails the criticism on the head, advising Lisa not to try to save anyone or anything, and making her promise not to waste her time on lost causes. Like the lottery, there are no winners.
The self-referential setup climaxes with a gag showing 3-second versions of old cartoons which are now politically incorrect. This, and a bit about airing shows even Peacock rejected, pre-cancels cancel culture,...

Five years, three albums and 13 No. 1 singles after making their major label debut, Here's to the Good Times, Florida Georgia Line's Tyler Hubbard humbly, reluctantly attempts to answer a loaded question: "Do you feel like you've made it?"
"Ah..." he trails off initially, with bandmate Brian Kelley jumping in to attempt a deflection. "We made it to these awards!" he says, referencing the Cmt Artists of the Year event, where they have been honored alongside country royalty every year for the last five years. "We made it here!"
"It's hard not to think we've made it when you look out every night and see 30,000 people singing your songs," Hubbard allows.
"At the same time," he continues, "we're big dreamers and we kind of say, 'The sky's the limit, so let's see where this thing is going to go,' and we kind of continue that motto and see where it leads us."

When Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency returns with new episodes this fall on BBC America, we'll see the return of familiar faces as well as plenty of new characters looking to either align themselves with or hunt down Dirk (Samuel Barnett) and Todd (Elijah Wood). At San Diego Comic-Con, Daily Dead had the opportunity to take part in roundtable interviews with returning cast members Barnett, Wood, Hannah Marks, and Jade Eshete, as well as new additions Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine, to discuss what's to come in season 2.
What can we expect from season 2, especially your relationship with each other? Can we expect you to work better together or will we still get head-butting moments?
Elijah Wood: Yeah, there's actually been kind of a shift in regards to our relationship. In the first season, Todd is super reluctant to do anything that Dirk wants him to do, or to...

Welcome back to another edition of Fantasy Fridays, where two real-life best friends get to play studio execs and cast talent for upcoming projects. We sort of take the same tact as the old Wizard Magazine features where we choose our dream picks for coveted roles without necessarily being tied down to realistic options.
With the case of Universal's upcoming Cinematic Universe of Classic Monsters, we thankfully have a very wide palette to choose from since the studio has already secured some surprisingly high-profile talent. So that actually takes some of the "pie in the sky/fantasy" nature out of our picks, since it seems like they're able to get who ever they want to appear in these films.
So far, we've got The Mummy with stars like Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe. Then there's Johnny Depp, who's signed on for The Invisible Man. The sky's the limit for these monster flicks,...

For 14 years, Gordy Baylinson didn't speak or show signs of emotion, so everyone around him - including his parents - believed he didn’t understand them. Then, last year, Gordy's therapist began teaching the young man with autism spectrum disorder a new communication technique called the Rapid Prompting Method, the Washington Post reports. Using this method, the 16-year-old from Potomac, Maryland has been able to show those around him that he has understood everything and has an incredibly rich inner life. Now, he's hoping to use this new ability to communicate to help others understand and accept people with autism.

It's week three on The Bachelor and things are getting very interesting.
If you thought Olivia was the only woman creating some major drama, think again. This week, Jubilee found herself face-to-face with one very angry group of women – and she wasn't having any of it. (That being said, don't count Olivia out just yet – she apparently spent $40,000 on clothes for the show, so you know she means business). Let's begin.
The Sky's the Limit on Ben's One-on-One with Lauren B.:Lauren B. got the first one-on-one date of the episode, and to be honest, it was pretty spectacular.

Joan Leslie. Joan Leslie: Actress who fought Warner Bros. and costarred opposite Gary Cooper and Fred Astaire dead at 90 Joan Leslie, best (somewhat mis)remembered as sweet girl next door types in Hollywood movies of the '40s, died on Oct. 12, '15, in Los Angeles. Leslie (born on Jan. 26, 1925, in Detroit) was 90. Among her best-known movies are Howard Hawks' Sergeant York (1941), opposite Best Actor Oscar winner Gary Cooper; Michael Curtiz's Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942), opposite Best Actor Oscar winner James Cagney; and Curtiz's militaristic musical This Is the Army (1943), opposite George Murphy and Ronald Reagan, and with songs by Irving Berlin. All three movies were mammoth box office hits. And all three did their best to showcase Leslie, who was not even 18 at the time, as insipid young things; in the first two – and in The Sky's the Limit (1943), opposite Fred Astaire – paired up with men more than...

New Star Wars movies will include origins tales as well as standalone films featuring characters from original trilogy
Disney has confirmed that its planned spin-off Star Wars movies will be origins stories.
The studio, which bought all rights to the long-running space opera saga last October with its purchase of LucasFilm for $4.05bn, has long said it plans a new film each year from 2015. These will consist of a new trilogy of movies, starting with Star Wars: Episode VII, and a variety of standalone films which have been rumoured to feature characters from the original trilogy that ran between 1977 and 1983.
Disney chief financial officer Jay Rasulo said last week during a conference call with investors that each of these spin-off movies would be an "origins story film". Of Star Wars as a whole, he said the saga was "not a new franchise for kids," but added that the property was ripe for exploitation.

Back when Disney bought out Lucasfilm with the intention of making "Star Wars: Episode VII" and beyond, the news was met with a heaping pile of skepticism. So much (understandable) vitriol and snark. But then once some of the original castmembers were wrangled back in and J.J. Abrams, giant fanboy-slash-sick director that he is, was tapped to lead the Warsian charge, well, attitudes shifted a bit toward excitement and intrigue.
Today's news might just earn a new hiss or two from the crowd, though.
Per Variety, Walt Disney's CFO Jay Rasulo addressed the financial state of the Mickey Mouse Club studio yesterday and touched on the subject of its intergalactic buyout.
According to him, Disney plans to kick things off in a big way with "Episode VII" so as to make the movie releases an annual thing (overkill much?), and here's the real kicker: at least some of those yearly...

Disney announced yesterday that it's planning on releasing one new "Star Wars" film a year, starting with J.J. Abrams's "Episode VII" in 2015.

Matt Lauria is officially returning to "Parenthood" for its fifth season.
The "Friday Night Lights" alum will reprise his role as Ryan York on the NBC drama and will likely appear in half of the season's episodes, according to TVLine.
Lauria played Amber's (Mae Whitman) love interest in Season 4 and though they had a rocky time of it, the two ended things in a good place in the finale.
"My favorite thing about 'Parenthood' is that they really allow the characters to actually grow ... but, you know, that's not without challenges," Whitman told Wetpaint at the Atx Television Festival in June. "The sky's the limit," Fred (Suzanne Clement) says when she's asked about what people will say when her boyfriend Laurence (Melvin Poupad) decides to become a woman. It's 1989 and she believes that her generation is ready to handle transsexuality -- and perhaps they are -- but as both Fred and Laurence soon find out, their intellectual capacity to deal with the transition may not survive the rigors of the heart. The young director Xavier Dolan has proven he's anything if not divisive, and his latest, "Laurence Anyways," will do nothing to change that. But as messy as it is, as much as the film overreaches and overplays its hand, "Laurence Anyways" is also exciting for the very ambition and narrative daring that it contains. For Laurence, becoming a woman is a matter of survival. He compares his life to holding his breath underwater for over 30 years, with the decision to...

What is "Under the Dome"? After reporters were treated to an early look at the first episode of CBS' new summer TV series -- adapted from the bestselling Stephen King novel of the same name -- executive producers Neal Baer and Brian K. Vaughan (who wrote the first episode) attempted to answer that question and many more.
Luckily, the premiere speaks for itself, offering a gripping, handsomely-produced hour laden with mystery, a slew of creative (and disgusting) special effects, and a number of intriguingly ambiguous characters, lead by "Breaking Bad's" Dean Norris, "Pan Am's" Mike Vogel and "Twilight's" Rachelle Lefevre.
The show revolves around the fictional town of Chester's Mill, and explores what happens to its inhabitants after an impenetrable dome of unknown origin cuts them off from the rest of the world.

The Warehouse 13 team solve a Vegas magic show mystery and more in the latest well-balanced episode. Here's Jenni's review...
This review contains spoilers.
4.14 The Sky's The Limit
This was a decent enough episode, with some hijinx and some emotional content. The writers handled three separate story lines and did a good job of bringing them all to a close without feeling rushed, and we have our first taste of what will hopefully kick off the story arc for the rest of this season. Admittedly, the bit with Charlotte Dupres, the ageless wife of our Count St Germain, felt shoehorned into the episode and did little to shed light on what the conflict will be. However, with five episodes left and seeing that Hg will be in the next one (!!!), I have faith that things will get going at a good pace two weeks from now.

"The Sky's the Limit" brought Kelly Hu into the Warehouse 13 mix to help Artie cope with the evil he unleashed.
Artie is still very shaken over Leena’s death and his cause in all of it - and he’s been on a flight rather than fight path as a result.
Artie has only ever wanted to protect those closest to him and for him end up the cause of the greatest pain possible is prompting him to make up for lost time.
Hu’s Abigail offered a great injection of life into the Warehouse. Artie needs someone new and impartial to help him break out of his funk and Abigail might be just the person. She’s willing to go toe to toe with him without pandering to him, but Abigail also wants to explain and help Artie along with emotional connections and bonds.
Abigail knows exactly what Artie is going through.

Here's a cool little collection of fan-made poster art for Star Wars: Episode VII. It's incredibly exciting that we are going to see more Star Wars films! I hope they take it beyond episode 7-12 and develop some awesome spin-off movies as well. I'd love to see a film focused on just Boba Fett or even Han Solo and Chewbacca! The sky's the limit in that universe, and Disney is going to make an insane amount of money from it! Check out the poster designs and let us know which one your favorite is! What other kinds of characters would you like to see get a spin-off film?

'The movie business to some extent is shrinking, and we have to look for new horizons,' Weinstein tells Mipcom audience
The Weinstein Company struck Oscar-winning gold with its film The Artist, but one of its biggest projects for 2013 will be a television event: the World Dance Awards.
Co-chairman Harvey Weinstein announced the project at the Mipcom conference in Cannes, alongside dancer and choreographer Michael Flatley, who came up with the idea.
Details were thin on the ground, other than that it will be a glitzy awards ceremony with 6-8 categories, garlanding dancers from around the world. "If this show has a cousin, it's the Grammys," said Weinstein, who had clearly been honing his pitch for potential broadcasters of the event.

They say the best place to start is at the beginning. For Keenan Cahill, it was August 28, 2010. That was the day he launched his first famous YouTube video, lip-syncing to Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream." The video went viral and was viewed by millions almost instantly. It was even seen by Perry herself. What came next was a flurry of attention and more videos. A lot more. There's over 170 in all and they include appearances with guest artists like the Glee Live cast, Lmfao, 50 Cent, Maroon 5, Flo-Rida, Drake Bell, Sean Kingston, Big Time Rush, Hot Chelle Rae, Ariana Grande, Jason Derulo, Julianne Hough, and more. He even joined Katy Perry backstage during her California Dreams tour where the duo performed "Teenage Dream" together in a video. His YouTube channel has close to 600,000 subscribers and has received an astounding 409,000,000+ views. He is currently the 27th highest subscribed music artist on YouTube.

After thousands turned out to see the British group perform on 'Today,' we look at who they are and how they got so big so fast.

On Monday morning (March 12), One Direction made their American television debut on "Today," performing their hits "What Makes You Beautiful," "One Thing" and "More Than This" in front of what was, according to Matt Lauer, one of the biggest crowds ever to pack the plaza — right up there with the numbers attracted by top pop acts like Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber.
If the throngs of screaming teenage girls left you scratching your head, wondering what all the fuss was about, it's not your fault. These guys seem to have come out of nowhere and already have people asking, "Are One Direction the next Beatles?"
Why is everyone suddenly talking about One Direction?...

Did you know the #2 movie in America right this very moment stars a former porn actor in one of the three lead roles? Would you believe said movie already has the letter "X" in the title?
From the "Too Good To Be True" files (you know it as TMZ) comes the humdinger that chubby "Project X" star Jonathan Daniel Brown, who plays a horny teenager in the high school party flick, culled from his past experience as a real-life horny teenager when he appeared three years ago in the Bang Bros. production "Nerd Hunting."
No, he was not an extra, he was a full-frontal featured male lead who had his way with three buxom beauties. According to one of his co-stars (via FilmDrunk), pornographic thespian Ashli Orion, the young actor was "cute, shy, and super nervous" playing a fast food delivery guy who "became the meat."

Liz: After six years, there's still room for growth in this friendship.
As Tina Fey smirked at the camera while reciting those words, I wondered if she and the writers were attempting to make a jab at those who might criticize 30 Rock for not evolving its characters in any way.
Then the thought vanished from my mind, because whether or not the show has done a good job of allowing its characters to grow over the past six seasons, "Today You Are a Man" - like many 30 Rock episodes - was funny enough that it doesn't matter.
Yes, Kabletown Jack finally figured out how to defeat Liz-Jack thanks to his realization that emotion can be used as a weapon (the aforementioned growth), but it was everything involving this contract negotiation that led up to that moment that made this yet another hilarious episode at the front end of this season.

"Bridesmaids" is up for some big awards at Golden Globes ceremony tonight: Best Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) and Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) for Kristen Wiig. The comedy is a bona fide critical darling and commercial success -- most likely because the subject matter hits close to home for many folks (myself -- four times a bridesmaid -- included).
So how real are the situations and sentiments in "Bridesmaids"? And what exactly can people do to avoid becoming like Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph's characters? Not to mention the burning question: Puppies as wedding shower favors -- is that a thing?
I called upon Sarah Pease -- owner and creative director of Brilliant Event Planning -- for answers. Sarah has professionally planned high-end weddings for five years, and she demystified -- and confirmed -- plenty of the plot points to this year's most celebrated ensemble flick.

The sky's the limit after you've won an Oscar. You can pair up with your good-looking counterparts for an ostentatious action film. You can lend your voice to a cartoon about kung-fu animals. You can even go for another Oscar, why not?
But the ultimate moment of Ftw excess has to be starring in a Luc Besson film. Rejuvenating actors as action stars from Statham to Neeson, Besson's hyperkinetic blow outs have charmed American audiences, killed at the box office, and above all, done one important thing: made their stars look really, really awesome.
It makes sense, then, that Angelina Jolie is the latest actress to get on the Besson bandwagon.
According to Deadline, Jolie is in talks to "star next spring in a dramatic thriller that is rooted in true scientific elements." Yeah, scientific elements like people getting shot a lot! As they write, it'll be probably be closer...

Another movie we've been hearing about for a long while now is that BioShock adaptation. As time passes, so does the likelihood of seeing a big screen exploration of Rapture, although we're hearing today that we shouldn't count a movie version out just yet.
Industry Gamers recently talked to Ken Levine, creative director of Irrational Games, who has helped grant 2K Games a major franchise in BioShock.
"There’s probably a version of BioShock that makes a great movie. I think for us as a company, we don’t have any need to get a movie made. We’d like to have a movie made, but it would have to be the right one, and we’ve had the opportunity to get it made, and unless all the right pieces are in place – it’s hard enough to get a movie made when all the right pieces are in place.

A Cars spin-off called Planes has been in development for some time [1] by DisneyToon Studios but we've known little about the story. All we knew is that it would be a direct to DVD title somehow related to cars, being developed as "“a semi-sequel and spinoff franchise to Cars, one meant to take advantage of the enormously lucrative direct-to-video market.” Now the film has been officially announced with a story revolving around small-town dreamer Dusty who wants to enter a globe-circling air race, but is afraid of heights. Let me guess: he gives up on his dream of winning the race and takes a job flying movie ad banners low over the crowds at Comic Con instead. Or maybe not. Think you've seen The Real Housewives of New Jersey at their most out-of-control? Think again after last night's melee. "Country Clubbed" upped the ante once again.
Our celebrity gossip site's review, which you can read by following the link above, offers the blow-by-blow in a way that truly does it justice. But here are the basics:
Teresa Guidice (left) and Danielle Staub (right) argue at the country club. As usual, except this time it escalates into a full-blown brawl. Seriously ... it's crazy. Jacqueline tries to help calm things down but this does not work. Her daughter Ashley roughly pulls Danielle’s hair and this makes Danielle even more upset. The cops arrive and take statements. Irate and losing her mind, Danielle is insistent that arrests be made, especially of Ashley, but this does not happen. Later, the women rehash the event with other people, each making their own case heard.
