The 213th of 220 "Our Gang" shorts released from 1922 to 1944.
The " House Divided" speech that Buckwheat references was given by Abraham Lincoln on June 16, 1858, at what was then the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield, after he had accepted the Illinois Republican Party's nomination as that state's US senator. Two years later Lincoln was elected the 16th president of the United States, and the Civil War started shortly after he was inaugurated in 1861.
According to Leonard Maltin and Richard W. Bann in their 1992 "Little Rascals" book, this short was released during the wartime presidential campaign between Thomas E. Dewey and Franklin D. Roosevelt. (Roosevelt would win his fourth term the following year.)
