The film was made in 1941. Norway was occupied by Germany. In the scenes where Leif Juster is chased down the Karl Johan street several german soldiers in full uniform can be seen.
The movie was shot and filmed in Nazi occupied Norway. It was early in the war and the occupational forces were not as strict as they became later in the war when the German political commissioner Josef Terboven's "bullying tactics" (as Josef Goebbels described them) got a much firmer grip on Norway. The lead actor Leif Juster was later imprisoned by the Gestapo for mocking the occupational forces on stage.
During the chase up Karl Johan street, a banner with the swastika is seen briefly. Several signs in german is also seen.
This movie was made available in 2023 when it was released on inter-regional (region-free) Blu-Ray Disk by Norske Filmklassikere (Norwegian Film Classics), Norsk Filmdistribusjon and Platekompaniet as the 4th release in a new series with classics, NFK0004, with subtitles in English, and is supposed to be held in stock for film lovers.
