The police have the suspects take off their shoes. Webb laughs and jostles Ann Seymour to look at Cushing's socks. The scene moves to Cushing, but he still has his shoes on. A police officer takes off his left shoe and he has a hole in the toe of his sock.
There is a caption reading "Killer" under the newspaper photo of a man who has been arrested for murder. No newspaper would print this--it is clearly libelous, and prejudicial to the jury.
The buildings seen through the window of Webb's office are obviously a painted backdrop.
Although the character played by Pat O'Brien is unencumbered by marital ties, he wears a wedding ring throughout the film.
