Charley Grapewin and Clara Blandick, who appear in this film, also appeared together in The Wizard of Oz (1939), as Uncle Henry and Auntie Em.
The steam locomotive pulling into town at the beginning of the film is a AT&SF 1918 Baldwin 4-8-2 "Mountain", with its matching fuel oil tender. This locomotive can also be seen in Twisted Rails (1934).
Some reviews credited Charles Middleton with the role of "Johnson," but that part was played by Guy Usher.
At the beginning of the picture, Will Oliver is holding the February 16, 1935 edition of The Saturday Evening Post. The artwork is by American artist Frederick Sands Brunner (1886-1954). The original oil painting for this cover was offered for sale in 2019 for $85,000.
