- Francesca Harper: What do you mean "telling the truth about me"? Haven't you got any honor or decency left?
- Francesca Harper: I've come to turn the other cheek.
- Tony Dunlap: Well, turn it somewhere else. I've seen enough of your cheek!
- Tony Dunlap: [panicked, about her husband, Jim, having an affair with Fran Harper] How can he put me through a thing like this? When I stop to think... I can't believe it.
- Bee McCrae: Look here, Tony. You'd see Jim through pneumonia, typhoid or even something as loathsome as smallpox, wouldn't you?
- Tony Dunlap: Yes.
- Bee McCrae: Well, Fran is a sort of cross between a tidal wave and a smallpox epidemic, but she'll pass. Hah! Makes me positively literary with rage.
- Rita: [at a gathering] Where's your drink?
- Mort Holmes: Where it'll do the most good.
- Rita: Want to get me one?
- Slim: Pookie?
- Rita: Ohh, one little one won't hurt me, cookie.
- Slim: Well, soon as you get a drink, your clothes begin to hurt you, you know that.
- [Rita looks annoyed and slightly embarrassed]
- Rita: Come over and sit down, Mr. Holmes. Don't you *hate* jealous husbands?
- Mort Holmes: They'd be missed.
- Rita: Gladly, I think.
