The world should value consent. However, Madonna‘s “Erotica” was banned from MTV for depicting consensual roleplay. The Queen of Pop had a surprising reaction to this development. One of the musicians behind Madonna’s album Erotica also had some perceptive things to say about the controversy.
Madonna’s ‘Erotica’ was pulled from MTV for being ‘repellent’
Madonna’s music video for “Erotica” looks like a rediscovered print of a black-and-white silent film about the Folsom Street Fair. It’s grainy, disorientingly edited, and niche in a way that’s generally anathema to a mass-market pop offering. The video has a lot of images that nobody would want to watch with their grandma. The Material Girl had previously explored Bdsm in her music videos for “Express Yourself” and “Justify My Love,” but she took things to a new level of explicitness with “Erotica.” After all, the music video had to...

If the sports historians are to be believed, Steph Curry and LeBron James’ showdown in the 2017 NBA Finals is one for the ages, a NBA rivalry on par with Celtics/Lakers, Pacers/Knicks, and Bulls/Pistons faceoffs of years past.
But anyone who watched Curry’s Warriors’ dominant 113-91 win over LeBron’s Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday knows there’s an even more interesting rivalry brewing: Rihanna vs. Kevin Durant.
Bad Girl RiRi was courtside for Game 1 at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, and made her presence known, staying for the entirety of the game (something of a rarity for celeb fans, who tend to skirt out after a few photo ops) and making her loyalty to the Cavs clear to surrounding Warriors fans, the Twitter-verse, and Durant in particular.

Nothing is certain at the Oscars, and that absolutely applies to the best picture and best director categories. In February 2015, Shannen Doherty revealed that she'd been diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then, the 45-year-old actress, who rose to fame in the '90s and 2000s on shows like Charmed and Beverly Hills, 90210, hasn't tried to hide her battle with the disease. She shaved her head on Instagram in July and recently attended a Stand Up to Cancer event looking incredibly strong. Amid news of her cancer diagnosis, an unexpected supporter has reached out: Rose McGowan. When Shannen left Charmed after three seasons in 2001 amid whispers of her difficult behavior on set, Rose was cast as her replacement. Rumors of a feud between the two actresses began spreading through Hollywood almost immediately after the news broke, creating a perceived media-fueled rivalry, which Rose squashed in the powerful, heartfelt letter she wrote to Shannen on Instagram, accompanied by a photo of cartoon versions of the two with bald heads. Kieran, here. We've been celebrating Girls Gone Wild this month at The Film Experience. If you haven't already done so, make sure to check out Team Experience's wonderful relay-style Thelma & Louise 25th anniversary retrospective.
As the month comes to a close, it felt fitting to take a look back at some of the Best Oscar-winning "bad girl" star turns. Here are 11 of the juiciest...
Honorable Mention:
Cristal Connors in Showgirls (Gina Gershon)
Should have been nominated. Very possibly should have won. Haters be damned.
Top Ten Oscar Winning Bad Girl Roles
10. Addie Loggins in Paper Moon (Tatum O'Neal - Best Supporting Actress 1973)
A charismatic yet unsentimental child performance that perfectly nails the tone of its film. The only complaint is that she wasn't promoted to lead Actress where (judging by that roster) she very well could have contended.
9. Barbara Grahame in I Want to Live! (Susan Hayward - Best Actress 1958)
Delightfully over-the-top and melodramatic.

For a while, Christopher Walken felt like "troubled guys" were the only types of roles he was being offered, and he knows when it began. "In Annie Hall, I played a suicidal guy who drives his car into traffic," he says in his matter-of-fact, stilted, utterly Walkenesque way. "Then in The Deer Hunter, which came immediately afterward, I shot myself in the head. I was playing these disturbed people. That might have been when that started." When asked if that bothered him, he plainly says, "Listen, I'm lucky."

'31 Days of Oscar': 'Lawrence of Arabia' and 'Ben-Hur' are in, Paramount stars are out Today, Feb. 1, '16, Turner Classic Movies is kicking off the 21st edition of its “31 Days of Oscar.” While the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is being vociferously reviled for its “lack of diversity” – more on that appallingly myopic, self-serving, and double-standard-embracing furore in an upcoming post – TCM is celebrating nearly nine decades of the Academy Awards. That's the good news. The disappointing news is that if you're expecting to find rare Paramount, Universal, or Fox/20th Century Fox entries in the mix, you're out of luck.
