- Originally released to the public with a running time of just over 5 hours. Later edited down to 2 1/2 hours. .
- The restored version to its initial intended 7 hour state is shown in 2019 in two parts of 3 hours 47' (La rose du rail) and 3 hours 10' (La tragédie de Sisif), along with Arthur Honegger's restored original music score. The restored version is first shown during the Lumière Film festival in Lyon on 19th and 20th October 2019, then on the French-German television channel Arte on 28th October and 4th November.
- There is an Italian edition of this film on DVD, distributed by DNA Srl: "NAPOLEONE (1927) Versione Integrale + LA ROSA SULLE ROTAIE (1923)" (2 Films on a single DVD), re-edited with the contribution of film historian Riccardo Cusin. This version is also available for streaming on some platforms.
