Rich Girl, Poor Girl - Lost Silent Film
PamelaShort15 January 2015
Actress Gladys Walton has a dual role in this film playing both the poor girl and rich girl. Nora McShane ( Gladys Walton ) lives with her abusive drunken father in a tenement quarter known as Fish Alley. One day while she is sent to fetch his daily beer, Nora wanders onto the grounds of the nearby home of the wealthy Vanderfleets. She is seen by their daughter Beatrice ( Gladys Walton ) and before the family gardener can chase Nora away, the two girls notice how much they look alike. Beatrice is very bored with her life and Nora hates hers, so they decide to exchange identities. Unfortunately, Beatrice is discovered by Nora's father and he holds her for ransom. Meanwhile, Nora has met Reginald, ( Harold Austin ) an admirer of Beatrice. She confesses to him the changing identities story, then Reggie and Mr. Vanderfleet go to the rescue of Beatrice. After her father is jailed, Nora is happily adopted by the Vanderfleets.

Presented by Carl Laemmle and produced by the Universal Film Manufacturing Company, Rich Girl, Poor Girl starring Gladys Walton, now remains a lost silent film.
