Motion Picture World magazine reported in March, 1916, that the film would feature five hundred army personnel and 1,500 black locals from the Savannah, Georgia, area.
Two of Francis X. Bushman's horses appeared in the film; he rode one throughout filming and Charles Prince rode the other. The thoroughbreds were transported from his Baltimore estate to the location in Georgia.
