Film debut of Charles Chaplin. NOTE: One of the few films in those early years in which he does not play the Tramp.
Charles Chaplin's character is named Edgar English, but most of the characters he played (usually in the persona of the Tramp) would be either nameless or would informally be given the name Charlie.
Within a month of his screen debut in this film. Charles Chaplin developed a distinctive screen character- the engaging little outcast in baggy pants, oversize shoes and battered derby hat. The effect was completed with a small crepe mustache which, like his cane, seems to have a life of its own.
Among the 34 short films included in the "Chaplin at Keystone" DVD collection.
