Dorothy Gibson, who plays Miss Dorothy, was in fact one of those rescued from the Titanic. She also co-wrote the film. Unlike what is depicted in the film, Gibson herself was the first person to enter lifeboat #7, which was the first lifeboat to be launched. In the film, she is shown to be one of the last to leave the sinking ship.
This film premiered on May 16, 1912, just 31 days after the Titanic hit the iceberg.
Gibson appears in the film in the same clothes she wore during the sinking.
Lost in a fire at the Eclair studio in 1914. It was thought that a copy was found in Germany in 1998, but that turned out to be In Night and Ice (1912)
The film is lost as no copy of it is known to exist.
