Gino Pizzati enlisted in 1940, after the training procedure was assigned to the Red Devils and sent to Malta, where he fought as pilot on RE 2001 and Re 2001. After he fought in Naples and after September 8 he followed Adriano Visconti in the North. In November 1944 Pizzati and the Visconti's pilots were training on Bf109s in Germany. During this time Adriano Visconti asked for volunteers which proposed the training on the Mel63 Komet. Among the pilots involved there was Gino Pizzati too.
