- Story of a mentally ill young man attempting to come to grips with his haunting past by seeking solace and understanding in the unfamiliar Eastern culture of Thailand.
- The news comes as a shock for Victoria "Vicky" Wessendorf: Her husband Gregor, who worked as an engineer in Thailand for many years, was killed in a traffic accident in Bangkok. At the same time, the sympathetic teacher learns that Gregor had recently owned a sophisticated condominium in the Thai metropolis - although he actually intended to finally return to his wife in Germany after years abroad. Against the advice of her sister Tina, Vicky makes a quick decision to travel to Bangkok. The evidence that Gregor was having an affair grows here - but with whom? Since his secretary can credibly refute any suspicion, there is only one woman left for Vicky: Gregor's much younger, attractive boss June van Driel. She looks for June, who she has never seen before, in her townhouse in Bangkok. However, Harriet van Driel, the strict mother of the entrepreneur, believes that Vicky is the applicant for the position of private tutor for June's little daughter Anna. Without really wanting to, the perplexed Vicky lets herself into the mix-up - she sees it as an opportunity to gain certainty about her suspicions and to learn more about her husband's supposed double life. In fact, she gets the job and shortly afterwards travels with the van Driels to northern Thailand, where June's likeable brother Tim runs a tea plantation. While little Anna soon took her new teacher into her heart, the cool Harriet is suspicious. Meanwhile, June, who hides her vulnerability behind a facade of strictness and discipline, and the motherly Vicky develop an exciting, but at the same time strangely familiar relationship. When Vicky is convinced that she finally has enough evidence of her husband's infidelity, she wants to confront her rival. Before that happens, the young woman confronts her with a terrible truth: June is terminally ill with cancer and has only a few months to live. Shortly thereafter, Harriet finds out that Vicky is not who she claims to be.
