- A laid-off book editor sets out to find his teenage daughter when she and her boyfriend go missing on holiday in Namibia.
- When conditions are right, an infamous ice-skating race is held in the north of the Netherlands. The 200-km race must be completed by midnight and everyone who finishes receives a medal. This film is based on the facts of the fateful day in 1963 when thousands of skaters suffered frostbite and shocking injuries because of plunging temperatures and rough terrain. Only a small number would cross the finish line, but it would be a life-changing event for those who did.

When it turns out that the creek must make way for a housing project she decides to resist these plans, but the real-estate developer sets the villagers and even nature conservationists against her. However, as the dispute comes to a dramatic climax she finds an unexpected ally by her side.

But only after sending his magnum opus--on which he had worked for the past 10 years--to his publisher. So she decides to publish Joachim's manuscript under Fabian's name.
