- This feature length documentary tells the story of Mahani Teave who grew up on Rapa Nui (Easter Island) and left at age 9 to pursue her dream of being classical pianist-a journey that takes her from mainland Chile to The Cleveland Music Institute to Berlin and the great concert halls of Europe. At the age of 30, on the brink of international success, Teave gives up her career to pursue a new dream, coming back full circle to Rapa Nui to found a free music school for the island's children. The resulting school-named Toki, after the basalt tool once used to shape Easter Island's iconic sculptures-is a model of sustainability, incorporating tons of tires, bottles and Pacific Ocean plastic; surrounded by agri-environmental gardens to grow food. With Toki, Mahani hopes to shape a bold new future for Rapa Nui and inspire hope and change on Earth, our island home.
- Legends of lost continents and civilizations have captivated people throughout time. Philosophers and astronomers like Aristotle and Ptolemy believed that an unknown continent existed in the Southern hemisphere. In the Age of Discovery, renowned explorers like Magellan and Cook searched the Pacific Ocean in vain for a mysterious land they called "Terra Incognita." To this day, ancestral legends throughout Polynesia speak of a lost homeland and a great civilization that disappeared into the sea. Modern science disputes the existence of unknown continents and often dismisses creation myths. But on Rapa Nui, or Easter Island, elders fiercely believe they originate from a continent that sank following a catastrophic upheaval. They call this lost land "Hiva". Now, new scientific evidence points to a remote island chain in Polynesia as the center of an ancient, thriving civilization. For over 400 years these islands have been known to the world as the Marquesas Archipelago, but to the native Polynesians they were once called "The Isles of Hiva". Could the legend of the lost continent of Hiva be true? Using new archaeological, geological and genetic evidence and by unveiling voyaging techniques passed down over centuries, "Lost Continent Of The Pacific" reveals a mesmerizing world of sweeping beauty and human sacrifice, of vast stone cities covered by jungle, water and exploration, cannibals and masterful seafaring navigators who had colonized the largest ocean on Earth centuries before Columbus reached America.
- In 1955, Heyerdahl set out on what would become known as "the Norwegian Archaeological Expedition to Easter Island and the East Pacific". The trawler M / S Bjelland transported the expedition's members around the eastern part of the Pacific Ocean for nine months, with visits and surveys on many islands in the region. But the main purpose and most of the time was spent on Easter Island. This mysterious and remote island, located about as far from the rest of Polynesia as it is from South America. Here they excavated, tried to erect some of the fallen stone statues, examined the culture and history of the population. All to find out where these people came from. Was it from South America on balsa rafts that Heyerdahl had proved the possibility of, or was it from the west - in the Polynesian's sea-going canoe?
