- Bob has been getting singing lessons from Riet Hogendoorn. He gets his big chance to fill in for John Hogendoorn's understudy But on the same night he's meeting Jeanne's parents for the first time.
- As soon as Jeanne's parents learn that she is expecting a baby, they plan a wedding as quickly as possible and force Bob to quit his job at the theater and join their hardware store. This leaves Arnold feeling redundant doing the same job.
- Bob is unhappy working at the store and longs to go back to the theater. In fact, the show is in trouble without him. Meanwhile Arnold has found love with Diny.
- When Jeanne's father unexpectedly passes away, Bob is needed in the hardware store more than ever. Riet and John Hogendoorn still try to lure him back to the theater because his replacement is not working out. Because of this, Bob misses the birth of his son.
