- Angry at lousy local programming, Pelswick finds his Dad's old pirate radio transmitter... and WHEEL is on the air!
- Gram-Gram becomes a T/A at Alcatraz, in Pelswick's class. At first she's an unholy embarrassment and Pelswick dreads going to class. But then she wins over the class - and the school - with her fascinating (if bizarre and contradictory) recollections of the cataclysmic Bayview Flood. Of course at the end they find out Gram-Gram managed to make fun because everything she remembered was wrong.
- Julie and Sandra both try out for the girls basketball team. When the coach clearly prefers Sandra, Julie thinks it's favoritism. But in reality it's because Julie really stinks. Sandra becomes self-conscious so she enlists Pelswick to teach her to stink at the game too.
- Pelswick refuses to put his Life and Crafts puppet of himself in a tiny puppet wheelchair and gets suspended for insubordination. He wont tell his family so he spends his time hanging around the Burger Barrel, the movie theatre, and the chat caf while his friends at school lobby in protest to get Pelswick reinstated.
- When Quentin is laid off, the household needs money while he hunts for work. Gram-Gram tries out for super model, test pilot, etc., Kate starts day trading on the stock market and Pelswick takes a paper route at 4:30 a.m. so his friends wont see him doing a little kid job.
- A nuclear-powered space station is going to plunge through the atmosphere and hit Bayview; the town goes to self-serving pieces.
- Pelswick manages and performs in Goon, Ace, Julie and Sandra's band. The band is sort of a Rorschach for the entire town: what everyone hears in the lyrics reveals their own insecurities and obsessions. The band must find a way to persuade everyone their music is inoffensive.
- Quentin's new girlfriend is monstrously P.C. and Pelswick has to become an ass to shock her into seeing him as human.
- Goon gets involved in the sale of a pyramid-product (Glurpee Seed and Fertilizer). The whole town gets sucked in. Pelswick and Ace must find a way to expose the sham and deprogram the residents of Bayview.
- Kate gets her first boyfriend. Pelswick becomes the world's most protective older brother even though it's her poor little 7-year-old boyfriend who needs protecting. (B-story: Sandra's outfit gets her expelled from school. Julie champions her friends case, but Sandra, encouraged by all the First Amendment talk, begins dressing so weird even Julie starts to have doubts)
