Colleen Hoover's first novel, Slammed, was self-published in January, 2012. It hit the NYT a few months later, followed by the sequel, Point of Retreat. She then signed both novels with Atria Books, a division of Simon and Schuster. She self-published her third novel, Hopeless. It was the first self-published title to hit #1 on the NYT and became Amazon's top selling self-published title of the year. She has since signed released seven novels with Atria Books, all hitting the NYT bestsellers list. Two of Colleen's novels, Confess and It Ends With Us, won the 2015 and 2016 Goodreads Choice Award for best romance, consecutively. Mindy Lynn Roberson was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas, and at a young age she moved to Longmont, Colorado. Her father, Walter, after serving in the Air Force, became a pastor, and Joyce, her mother, is a midwife. Mindy has 11 siblings, she being the seventh, with six sisters and five brothers ranging in age from 14 to 40.
Mindy graduated high school in 2004. Later that year, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert, and gave birth to her first child, a son, Bradley. Over the next eight years, Mindy had two daughters, Shealee, born in 2007, and Ellary, born in 2009. She lived in several locations, constantly packing up her small family following Robert as he pursued his career as a FAA Air Traffic Controller. In 2010, Robert was offered a position in Denver, Colorado, and one last time they moved their family, but this time they were moving back home.
At a very young age, Mindy started acting and quickly became passionate of this new-found medium. When she was 6, she starred in her first lead role for a Christmas play that her local church put on. Any opportunity after that to be on stage, she jumped at the chance. The first time she realized she wanted to become an actor was in eighth grade when she landed a role in her school's rendition of "The Sound of Music."
