Channa Rai is a Punjabi actor, writer, cinematographer and director. He graduated from Chandigarh University with a diploma in film making. He is well known for direction the Punjabi film Daastan-E-Sultanpur Lodhi, and The Half Ticket etc.
BORN & FAMILY: He was born (18/10/1990) in a small village "Hussainpur Dulowal" (Know as Mangupur), Kapurthala district, in Punjab. His father is Sh. Bhagwan Singh and mother is Smt. Piaro. He has one elder brother and three sisters. He was the youngest in the family, due to which he was loved by all.
EDUCATION: He completed his matriculation from the government school in his village Mangupur, followed by further studies at Randir College, Kapurthala and later completed his graduation in film making from Chandigarh.
CAREER: He did not have any filmy background and due to not having any guardian, he had to face a lot of problems. But he never gave up and kept working hard, he was first cast as a lead model in a video song in 2012, which was the turning point of his life. After this, he did many songs as a model and actor, which were very famous songs of his time. He also worked as an assistant direction and camera operator to learn the technical nuances of film making along with acting. Apart from this, he also had a hobby of writing and he used to write stories.
ACHIEVEMENTS: He made his direction debut with a religious film "Dastan-e-Sultanpur Lodhi", a documentary film on the life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, released in 2016. It was dedicated to the 550th Gurupurab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The film was widely appreciated in India and abroad. His first commercial film was The Half Ticket which was well liked by the audience. This film was nominated for Best Director in Pune Film Festival 2018. His first music video as a director was shoot with famous singer Nachhtar Gill, this song also became very famous and was nominated for PTC Music Award. Apart from this, he has done many songs and films with Punjabi singers and actors, which has been appreciated every time.
