In 2002, he started to work as a consultant for the Museo Nazionale del Cinema in Torino. Since June 2004 till December 2016 he was its Director.

From 2008 till 2016, he was the President of the Advisory Board of the TorinoFilmLab. In 2010, he served as a jury member for the main competition of the Cannes Film Festival (Tim Burton, President of the Jury). Since 2012, he is again the Director of the Venice International Film Festival.
