This started off pretty well then ended up shooting itself in the foot in the last half with heavy failures of logic. When it comes to the point where we must decide who to blame, it's ultimately the islanders to blame for inviting tourists to the island in the first place. In the real world, with a situation like this, the locals would not let strangers in. The logic of the story falls apart because of this - It becomes too unreal. If they had explained why tourists were allowed, yes that would enhance the story and provide depth and satisfaction, but no, nothing, they left it out.
