The writers decided that all the characters needed to test the waters of relationships. So we have Howard and Bernadette dealing with Stuart, Penny and Leonard heading to Las Vegas, Sheldon and Amy in huge conflict. Raj is in a graveyard, having a picnic with his creepy girlfriend. The problem is that it's all really harsh and sterile. I won't go into details but there is something really sad and empty here.
