Possible spoiler..... Patti's tragedy
6 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This episode broke my heart. Patti's back story of abuse and rejection made me understand her more as far as the Guilty Remnant is concerned. My theory (& I'm sure it's not unique) is that the GR is a way for the hurt, angry and disappointed to lash out. It explains their mission to "make them remember" by punishing those who dare rediscover a little happiness in their lives. And the vanished might be those who were unwanted either for the moment, like Kevin's fling and Nora's family or on a permanent basis, possibly like Laurie's unborn child.

Little Patti represents abused children. She feels unworthy and "knows" that she is the cause of everything wrong. Neil's murder is Kevin's way of redeeming himself for what he's been charged to do, and this dovetails with his paternal instincts to protect little Patti. The agony that tears him apart is his unwillingness to commit infanticide while knowing that he must do it to head off the deadly damage she wreaks as an adult. What a conflict! My two cents.
