Warning: Spoilers
It isn't often I get to view a movie with my favorite actor, Rod Taylor which is a dud. But that's what this film called " Gli Eroi " is, . . . A dud. The book which is written by Rene Harvard, which became a movie directed by Duccio Tessari missed it's mark completely. The story was simple enough, a special cargo of English Pounds (money), some 2,000 Lbs or $5,000,000 dollars is sent by over-land transport to a secret destination. Despite it being disguised in a Red Cross/Medical Supplies box, it's discovered by nearly everyone who comes in contact with it. There in is the story as all who want it fight to secure it for themselves. The movie is clumsy, the dramatic action is fraught with dry humor and the fine actors are all treated with an impossible task to make a serious attempt at dry lip humor. Despite the superior talents of Rod Taylor and Rod Stiger, the movie is laced with more promise than finished product. The original title was 'Gil Eroi' but changed for American audiences to read ' The Heroes. ' The end product is so bad that when sifting through their past movies, this movie does not make it to either stars film listings. **
