Woman, Life, Freedom!

Warning: Spoilers
"Movies that feel more like political statements than actual films often fall flat. This is especially true for those made in Iran.

This film is heavy-handed in its portrayal of Iran's political landscape, seemingly more interested in documenting the 'Woman, Life, Freedom' protests than telling a compelling story. Why not just make a documentary, director?

The plot is decent, and the cinematography and editing are impressive. However, the film drags on, losing the viewer's interest. And the young girl's motivation for stealing her father's gun remains unclear. What was she trying to prove? Was she seeking revenge?

While the director's work isn't terrible, Iranian filmmakers still struggle with action sequences. The scene in the desert, where the father pulls a gun, is particularly poorly executed, highlighting a weakness in Mohammad Rasoulof's direction.

The film's ending is a blatant copy of the labyrinth sequence from Stanley Kubrick's 'The Shining,' but it lacks the intensity and impact of the original. Even the father's transformation mirrors Jack's in 'The Shining.'

Ultimately, the film's overt political message overshadows any other aspects. It's clear that the director's primary goal is to promote the protest movement, which is the film's biggest flaw.

In conclusion, if you haven't seen this film, you're not missing out. It's not a must-see."
