Showtime’s satirical thriller “The Curse,” created by stars Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie and also starring Emma Stone, has exclusively shared its Emmy submission plans with Variety.

Depending on your zip code, you might just be out of luck when it comes to watching the next two episodes of Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune on Thursday, April 25, and Friday, April 26. Why? Yes, on both Thursday and Friday, ABC will air the 2024 NFL Draft in the evenings. Thursday’s coverage of the same begins at 8 p.m. Et, so for those ABC-affiliated stations that air Jeopardy! at 7 p.m. Et or earlier, their viewers will not see a change. When it comes to polarizing guests, Real Time With Bill Maher is set to hit the jackpot this week.
Late Wednesday, HBO announced that independent presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr will be Maher’s lead guest Friday, alongside former CNN anchor Don Lemon.
Kennedy has long been seen as a potential spoiler in the November election. Recent polls have him capturing anywhere from 2-16% of the electorate, although whether he draws more support away from Trump or Biden is matter of some debate.
An ex-democrat whose father was slain while running for president himself in 1968, Kennedy is arguably best known for his controversial embrace of a number of conspiracy theories.
Several of Kennedy’s own siblings have publicly denounced his run for the presidency, saying last fall “Bobby might share the same name as our father, but he does not share the same vision, values or judgment.”

The Sonic the Hedgehog film franchise is taking a quick detour to Planet TV this week, as Knuckles premieres on Paramount+ on Friday, April 26. The show features the voice work of Idris Elba as the titular echidna and an all-star cast of supporting stars joining in on the video game adaptation fun. So where in the Sonic universe does the Knuckles series fit? The answer is simple — but also not. Where does Knuckles fit into the Sonic film timeline? Knuckles takes place after the events of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It also precedes Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which hits theaters on December 20. Knuckles was developed to coincide with the debut of Sonic 3 — for a very specific reason, too. Executive producers Toby Ascher, Jeff Fowler, and Neal Moritz decided they wanted to honor the trajectory of the video games, which saw the third installment split into two releases: Sonic 3 and Sonic...

Nielsen live-plus-seven-day data for Ryan Gosling’s Saturday Night Live episode has arrived, and the results are positive.
With Gosling as host, and Chris Stapleton as musical guest, the April 13, 2024 edition of SNL delivered 7,510,000 linear viewers. That represents the show’s largest total linear audience since Dec. 10, 2022, when Steve Martin and Martin Short were co-hosts, and Brandi Carlile was the musical guest. Additionally, the Gosling-led episode delivered 1,727,000 P18-49 linear viewers, the show’s largest P18-49 linear audience since Oct. 14, 2023, when Pete Davidson hosted the Season 49 premiere.
The Gosling-SNL story is even stronger if one takes into account episode viewing across digital platforms: 8.9 million total viewers and 2.64 million P18-49 viewers. Not only do the 8.9 million and 2.64 million represent season highs for the show, but the 8.9 million is SNL’s largest cross-platform audience since Dec. 11, 2021, when Billie Eilish was both the host and musical guest.

“Part of being a spy is being a shapeshifter,” Elisabeth Moss told us when she and executive producer Denise di Novi stopped by TV Insider’s interview suite at the Television Critics Association press tour to discuss their new spy thriller, The Veil, written by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders). Being able to slip into different identities is something Moss could relate to in her character, fearless British MI6 agent Imogen Salter. “She’s all these different people, and when she’s being that person, she’s not lying. She’s telling the truth. She’s an actor. I know exactly who this person is.” Salter is trying to stop a terrorist attack on a major American city and must get information from Adilah El Idrissi (Yumna Marwan), who could just be the world’s most dangerous woman. Their game of cat and mouse plays out from Istanbul to Paris to London.

Ryan Gosling is not a dumbass; heh heh, heh, heh heh heh, heh! Thanks in large part to a “Beavis and Butt-Head” sketch that went viral, Gosling’s “Saturday Night Live” episode is the most-watched “SNL” since late 2021.
Counting one week’s worth of delayed viewing (which is fine and normal but really helps when something goes viral) and all platforms, the April 13, 2024 telecast of “SNL” drew 8.9 million total viewers, according to NBC. That’s the most since Billie Eilish hosted the program on December 11, 2021.
The Gosling episode, for which he was promoting film “The Fall Guy,” is the most-watched “SNL” episode ever on Peacock. Gosling’s musical guest was Chris Stapleton.
On YouTube, 46 million users have “viewed a portion of the episode,” NBC said, the most since 2020. That’s an important specificity given the viral nature of the “Beavis and Butt-Head” sketch. In all, there were 170 million social-video views...

For the first eight seasons of Bravo‘s “Vanderpump Rules,” Jax Taylor was the man viewers loved to hate. Between his hot temper, shameless gossiping, and seeming inability to be faithful to any of the women in his life — including Brittany Cartwright, whom he would eventually marry in 2019 after a series of break-ups and reconciliations — Taylor was one of the most compelling cast members on the show right up until he and Cartwright were fired from it in 2020. So when the news broke in early 2024 that Jax and Brittany would be returning to television with their own spinoff series, “The Valley,” expectations among “Vanderpump” fans were high.
So far, “The Valley” has not only met but exceeded those expectations with episodes that are every bit as entertaining and revelatory as those found on the best seasons of “Vanderpump,” even though the milieu might seem less promising. Instead of singles in Hollywood,...

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Shōgun Episode 10, “A Dream of a Dream.”] Everyone who watched FX‘s fantastic Shōgun agrees: we’re sad to see this show go. The cast includes Tiffany Boone, Pj Byrne, Marc Menchaca, Moses Ingram, Rebecca Dalton, Olli Haaskivi, Jordane Christie, and Glynn Turman (guest stars include Taylor Jackson as Candice Bergen and Inny Clemons as Richard Pryor). With upbeat ’70s music and the peppy fonts to go with it, the vibe is more upbeat than one would expect of a drama thriller — but as the premise underscores, there’s always more story to tell.

Actors Access, the leading online platform for film and TV casting, was hit with a class action lawsuit on Wednesday, alleging that it illegally charges performers for access to auditions.
The lawsuit, filed in L.A. Superior Court, accuses the platform of predatory conduct, and of charging working actors hundreds of dollars a year for upgrades that they hope will get them noticed.
“By exploiting actors’ desire to live out their dreams, Defendant has inserted itself between actors and casting directors, forcing hardworking actors into paying for the opportunity to apply for a job,” the lawsuit alleges.

Nick and Aaron Carter are the next subjects of an Investigation Discovery docuseries. The network is behind the recent bombshell docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV. The sexual assault allegations against the Backstreet Boys member are the main story of the Fallen Idols: Nick and Aaron Carter trailer released on April 24, and they’re supplemented by the controversies surrounding the late Aaron and his public statements supporting Nick’s alleged victims. Aaron died in November 2022 at the age of 34. TV Insider reached out to Nick’s representation for comment on the upcoming documentary. Nick was accused of sexual assault by singer and actress Melissa Schuman, a former member of the popular girl group Dream, in 2017. Dream was popular when the Backstreet Boys were at the height of their fame in the 1990s. Two more women, Ashley Repp and Shay Ruth, have come forward with their own...

Per the official synopsis, the docuseries will chart the Carters’ fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s to their headline-making struggles in recent years, including Aaron’s death in 2022.

After rebranding Twitter as X, Elon Musk is bringing his favorite letter to the small screen. The billionaire tech mogul is launching a new television streaming app for smart TVs called — you guessed it! — X TV. The company boasts that it will feature tailored algorithms, among other features. So what exactly is X TV, and where can you find it? Here’s everything we know about the streaming service so far. What does X TV claim to offer? The company’s CEO Linda Yaccarino touted its benefits on Twitter Tuesday, writing that while it’s still being built, the features of the service will include a “trending video algorithm” (perhaps similar to the “for you” list of tweets or the trending topics bar), “AI-powered topics,” “cross-device experience”, “enhanced video search,” “effortless casting,” and “wide availability.” From the small ...

It’s a Hollywood cliche you have to hire the nicest actors to play the meanest people, and on “Under the Bridge” a group of struggling, lonely teens committing violent crimes certainly qualifies.
Unlike other shows about teens, where the cast is pushing 30, the kids on Hulu’s miniseries all are played by actors aged 12 to 16. This created a few challenges during production, due to the dark true-life plot, which centers on small-town British Columbia and the kids who assault and kill their classmate Reena Virk one night, and then basically all cover for each other while the case unfolds.

If nothing else, The Veil is certainly efficient. While streaming series tend to stretch out their plots for far too many episodes and multiple seasons, Elisabeth Moss’ new Hulu thriller (premiering next Tuesday, April 30 on the streamer) is told across six lean episodes that mostly clock in well under an hour. Having seen all six, I can say it’s an effectively tense and propulsive drama that scratches that Homeland itch, with its tale of a damaged spy forming a close bond with a possible terrorist. But even in six hours, it still finds time for unnecessary subplots and bizarre...

We still don’t know whether Kevin Costner will be returning to his role as John Dutton for the final stretch of Yellowstone when the back half of Season 5 returns this November. However, some fans have a very clever idea for how the show could finish out the character’s arc by hiring someone else for the role: his Hollywood look-alike Bob Odenkirk to step into Dutton’s scruffy boots! For those unfamiliar with the Odenkirk-Costner connection, the gag comes from the former’s hit series Better Call Saul. In the Breaking Bad prequel, Odenkirk stars as a pre-Saul Goodman version of his character, who still goes by his given name of Jimmy McGill and pulls off lots of minor (but still gnarly) cons on unsuspecting rubes. In one instance, he convinces a pair of girls to come home with him and his best friend on the pretense that he’s Kevin Costner,...

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Shōgun Episode 10, “A Dream of a Dream.”] FX‘s Shōgun reached its thrilling conclusion in Episode 10, “A Dream of a Dream.” In it, Lord Yoshii Toranaga’s (the fantastic Hiroyuki Sanada) dream of a nation at peace came true, albeit at a steep cost. As he told Lord Kashigi Yabushige (Tadanobu Asano) in their final scene, “Crimson Sky” was already finished. He “sent a woman to do what an army couldn’t,” and through Mariko’s (the great Anna Sawai) sacrifice, the final pieces of his plan fell into place. Because of Mariko, he wouldn’t have to draw his sword in battle at all. Sawai previously teased a moment of “revelation” in Shōgun‘s final scenes to TV Insider, and viewers now know what she meant. All this time that Toranaga spent denying that he wanted to be Shōgun (the military leader and de facto ruler of Japan), ...

After 34 years of hundreds of beers and very few lines, Larry the Barfly’s story has come to a sad end. Last weekend’s episode of The Simpsons titled “Cremains of the Day” (the show’s 765th episode) centered around the unexpected death of familiar character Larry, who has been a series regular since Season 1 in 1989. He spoke in a total of two episodes in the entire 34 years The Simpsons has been running – in Season 2 in “Bart Gets Hit by a Car” and in Season 8 in “El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer” (he says one word: “Colleague.”). He was often seen in the background of episodes, with – what many would describe as – a dumb look on his face. Larry would often lend his ear to the other patrons of the bar; he would usually sit in the back; and he was the tallest of the Moe’s Tavern regulars. Beyond that,...

The character is played by Maria Doyle Kennedy in the original series. Sally Messham, Alisa Davidson, Annabelle Dowler, and Harry Eaton (Phil Sharp; Callum Heinrich; Ori Jones; We Are Lumosia) Meanwhile, Hugh Ross plays Arch Bug in Outlander, and he memorably made a move to acquire the lost Jacobite gold that had been hidden under Fraser’s Ridge in Season 7 but lost his wife in the process.
