Bill Withers is an interesting individual since he didn’t go right into the music business when he was given a chance. He had a rather bad stutter when he was younger and din’t have a whole lot of confidence speaking or singing. But when he was 18 he enlisted in the Us Navy and lost his stutter over a nine-year stretch as he became interested in singing and writing music.
