Turns out that there are a few lucky people in Hollywood who have read the script that James Gunn wrote for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Apparently the story is so good and so emotional that it is making people cry. This information comes from Peter Sciretta of /Film:
If I had somehow talked to two separate people, who somehow read James Gunn’s Guardians 3 script, and both told me that it made them cry, I probably wouldn’t be able to say any more.

We’ve heard from a couple of sources that Disney and Marvel plan on using this script that Gunn wrote, even though he is no longer going to direct the film. Marvel has yet to find a director to replace Gunn, but whoever they do hire, I hope that they stick with the script and vision that Gunn had for the movie.
