Amy Adams has been cast as the lead in Joe Wright’s “The Woman in the Window,” Fox 2000 announced Wednesday.
“The Woman in the Window” is based on A.J. Finn’s best-selling novel, 2018’s best-selling adult fiction title.
Elizabeth Gabler and Marisa Paiva are overseeing the project for the studio. Tracy Letts wrote the screenplay, while Scott Rudin and Eli Bush are producing.

The book follows a child psychologist who lives alone in a New York suburb with a case of agoraphobia so debilitating that she hasn’t left the house in months. She wastes her time watching movies and spying on her neighbors until she witnesses a horrible crime taking place in the house across the park.
Amy Adams will next star in “Sharp Objects” for HBO, where she serves as an executive producer as well. She will also next star in Lynne Cheney in Adam McKay’s upcoming film opposite Christian Bale. She is represented by Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Wme.
