Athiéi

Athiéi (meaning "blessing" in Dinka) is a film actress. She was born in the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kakuma, Kenya, to South Sudanese parents. In 1996, her family moved to Perth, Western Australia, where she was raised.
After completing her primary education at Ballajura Primary School, she attended high school at John Septimus Roe (Anglican Community School). Here, she enrolled to study in the drama TEE/ATAR course offered to senior students in year 11 and 12. During this time, she was a part of the ensemble in musicals, including The Sound of Music, and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. As a senior student, she also attended a drama trip to Melbourne, working with The Melbourne Theatre Company, to deepen her studies.
Outside of school, at the age of 15, she attended her first professional acting classes at Actors Now. Following her completion of high school, she enrolled to study a BA degree, majoring in Communication & Media Studies and Political Science & International Relations at the University of Western Australia - graduating in 2014.
A couple of years after graduation, Athiéi decided to pursue acting as a professional career. She began her career appearing in a TV commercial in 2016, and in 2018, she relocated to Sydney. She has worked in television, theatre and film.
Athiéi made her feature film debut, starring as Tina Honsou in the independent film, Streets of Colour (2023).
